“God seems to be an exceptionally unreliable oracle – most of what he has supposedly said is wrong.”

I totally disagree.I believe God to be just the opposite of the above quote.God is God you demand nothing as his creation. He has given us a map to follow and a free will, he doesn’t make anyone do anything. For example ‘thou shalt not steal”.If you steal and get caught you pay the price. Is it Gods fault you have to pay.No Its yours. He place that commandment in the Word for a reason. Just as he has done through out the Word. You have to study and see just what God’s plan is for his people. The more I study the more God reveals to me.It would be the same for any of his children.
Exodus 33: verse 11: “And the Lord spoke unto Moses face to face, as a man speakest unto his friend.”
Exodus 33: verse 20: “Thou canst not see my face; for there shall no man see me and live”
—————
Genesis 2: verses 16-17: “And the Lord God, commanded the man, saying “of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: (17) But of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”
…but they didn’t die? They were expelled?
Not that it really matters what the bible said. God doesn’t lie because god doesn’t exist.
Peb, Man was never meant to die,he was meant to go on living in that beautiful Garden forever but sin and disobedience caused mans death.Peb we will all face death because of the first sin.
So god is going to keep on punishing all of us because of one mistake. Hardly a forgiving god don’t you think?
It’s just an unpleasant story and another example of inconsistency in the bible. Do you think an all powerful god would make such a mistake?
This quote is completely accurate. The massive number of inconsistencies in the bible, like the blatant examples PEB just pointed out are factual evidence directly from the bible. Christians are constantly trying to resolve these issues with a great deal of bending and twisting. It’s ridiculous.
I can only hope that someday they will come to grips with the fact that their bible was not written, nor inspired by any god. It was likely written by mere mortals who’s primary goal was to subdue the masses in order to gain power.
Holy smoke the only one who has power over me is God. I’ve picked the bones out of ever message that was ever preached to me.Humans are prone to mistakes. There are some parts of the bible where the writer give his own out look on certain things. I do admit there are things mention in the bible that does not apply for this day and age.But there is still a lesson to be learned from it.
“can you find any twisting or inconsistencies in the Qoran?” Are you freakin’ serious? Without spending a full minute, one can pull up the following data:
My question still remains from when you pulled a sarah palin and quit; are you able to answer now ‘you’re back tech: How can you explain why christ died (if no one dies) for your sins some 2000 years or so before you where born or before your sins where know?
John, It would take a lot longer than I have to explain all your questions. read the book of John. I suggest the NIV.You will surely find the answers to most of your questions. Before anyone makes any statement on this site ,it would be wise for to know what their talking about. For instance: The Bible contradicts itself.
Does god have favourites? Does he prefer one group of people over another?
It’s an important question theists should ask themselves.
There are obviously 2 answers:
yes. Then there is no god. The bible says ‘love thy neighbour’. There are no caveats attached.
no. Then there is no god. Your religion has been created by man because it actively encourages you to persecute groups of people who do not share your belief.
Solomon you have been shown many of the obvious flaws in your defective book several times on this site, yet you are blind to them. Denying the obvious makes you look extremely stupid. Just look at the link BAT posted above. What in the hell is wrong with you? Learn to think and stop trying to justify stupidity.
BAT, the site you posted is useless. It deliberately give a negative explaination from the real meaning of the verses. If the verses were debated one can instantly recognise the contents of the verses were clearly twisted.
Holysmoke, the stupidity is on you but you don’t realise. Lets start a debate one by one on each verses if youre the man of truth. Youre sure lose, I promise.
I”m not up on solomon book ,but I do know that users of this site tend to take a lot of things from the bible and put their own twist on it.The Bible needs to be studied before you can make any debate on it. But even the Devil him self knows the Bible cover to cover. If you don’t know what your talking about He’ll snare you for sure.
“JESUS” There is power in that name.Wonder working POWER.Solomon IF you haven’t accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, then you will not see heaven either.
BAT, The tactics used by the author to make the verses comtradicts is by confining selected verses into contradiction with each other. This can easily be detected & debated by minors to correct or challenge it.
tech, who ever accept other than Allah as god will be condemned to hell. Repent before its too late. All the reasoning Allah is the only and real god is in the Qoran. Read it.

Just one more way of saying that the god story’s truth can be traced back to the vapors in the rocks or the hookah. I agree with the quote.

The Atheists allways agree with some silly quotes.

Peb & Holysmokes, but can you find any twisting or inconsistencies in the Qoran?
May 22nd, 2010 at 13:04
Peb I believe you don’t understand what I said .The punishment was having to die instead of living on forever. Not an immediate death sentence.

“the site you posted is useless”
This is precisely and exactly the response that I expected from a delirious, uneducated mind.
In each case, there seems to be a “yes” and a “no” involved – and each answer is CORRECT. Do ya’ possibly THINK that would serve as “contradiction”?
