“I've always considered the existence of religion as one of the most fundamental proofs of the non-existence of God. I simply cannot conceive of the notion of a universal creator so extraordinarily vacuous and vain that he would require his creations to worship him throughout their – apparently otherwise meaningless – lives.”

Yeah…what about the food, the wealth, the life, the joy of living, God has granted. Does that too not taken into account. Indeed you all are the ungrateful lots not even just to worship as a token of appreciation to God. You all are the condemn lots and will be thrown to !!!!HELL!!!!

I have come to the conclusion that the odds are stacked very high in my favor and that there is absolutely no chance that there might be some kind of a hell; or, that I will be burnt in it after I’m dead. I will take those odds anywhere here on the Strip when weighted against being forced to live out my life in some old, tired, nonsensical, superstitious meaning of some man made Dark Age belief in a sadistic boogie man, pig shit.
And by the way Ryedo, yesterday’s post at 15;53 was fantastic and so enlightening, thank you.

Solomon: “what is there a problem with flying horses. Just fix it with a pair of wings.”
So Solomon believes in flying horses? And flying pigs to I suppose!
Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!
What a sucker.
July 17th, 2010 at 9:42
So you think its very funny. Why is it most ants does’nt have wings, but some have? It’s from the same type of insects does’nt it? So for the same type of animals eg horse or ape to have wings is absolutely possible does’nt it? Does this reasoning knock your sense?
You better take back your laughter.
July 17th, 2010 at 9:59
Today’s unknown author is right on. I could expand his/her argument in that those who do not understand what they observe in the universe put it down to their god simply because they cannot come up with any other explanation – “I cannot explain what goes on in the universe, therefore there must be a god”. A sad and illogical viewpoint, but it has made a lot of religious leaders very rich. So it’s Ok then???
July 17th, 2010 at 11:33
Those who believes that nature or evolution is responsible for the existence of everything is the most stupidest living things that ever exist.
July 17th, 2010 at 11:52
I’d make the caveat that the existence of plural religions is stronger evidence of the non existence of God.
I really should resist but
Here islittle basic developmental biology for Sol to learn
July 17th, 2010 at 13:01
“I’d make the caveat that the existence of plural religions is stronger evidence of the non existence of God.”
Exactly I mean why even consider that garbage when they can’t even agree on who’s god is right and which dogma is correct.
Dawkins I believe said something like there is not a very good chance that one religion is correct but there is a very good chance that they are all wrong.
July 17th, 2010 at 13:08
“Yeah…what about the food, the wealth, the life, the joy of living, God has granted”
None of the above requires a god and it may work for you but what about the people that don’t have those things? There are more have nots than haves? Why were you selected over so many others? Why do so many nasty people have those things while many good people do not? I could go on and on.
Wouldn’t life be fair if there were an all powerful, all loving, all good, just god watching out for us?
July 17th, 2010 at 13:11
Atheists Mc,
Don’t ask me to browse to some lousy sites.Put forth anything with your own words and lets start a debate on it.
July 17th, 2010 at 13:27
I think fixing horses with wings is brilliant. Wait a minute what is a horse fly if not a flying horse?
July 17th, 2010 at 13:31
Every human being is tested by god whether he’s granted wealth or poverty. The wealthy have the responsibility of distributing his wealth to the needy. Not to keep them only to themselves. The not so fortunate ones should work or make do with what they have. They will be rewarded in the afterlife for being patient not to commit offence to aquire what they crave for. See..god is very fair.
July 17th, 2010 at 13:31
There’s no point in debating with you sol – you don’t have sufficient education or intelligence to engage with any of our arguments. A typical contribution from you (like today) is:
“I don’t agree with atheists so they are all stupid”
That is not debate – it’s pathetic, childish rhetoric.
July 17th, 2010 at 13:31
We don’t need a debate we need a conversation. These quotes are good for starting them.
July 17th, 2010 at 13:36
ernie,
I prefer horse fly.
See..its not difficult if you use some imagination.
July 17th, 2010 at 13:39

No I don’t see. First off how do you know any of this? You don’t I say. Your is a non-answer.
I’ll ask again. Why were you chosen to have food and abundance while those you insist should just sit down and shut up were not?
July 17th, 2010 at 13:40
“if you use some imagination.”
Nice dig. So long sol.
July 17th, 2010 at 13:41
Hypatia,
You speak as if you know everything. Don’t under estimate ones capacity before a challenge. Or are you chicken out?
Puk…puk…puk…
July 17th, 2010 at 13:41
i think the quote is from a Pat Condell video, not sure which one tho.
Nice to see (r)sol is still here, not martyred yourself yet then. Keep trying, preferably with your family and your iman.
July 17th, 2010 at 14:00
ernie,
God test humans in all sorts of ways. Some rich, many poor. The very rich, they did’nt need everything that they posess. If you think closely they only need the food that they eat daily for their entire life. Being rich does’nt mean one leads a happy life, and being poor too does not mean they lead a miserable life. Some people are just happy with what they have. So your query of why god granted wealth or the opposite to someone have become of no significance.
July 17th, 2010 at 15:41
sol:
sol, you have no shame (or sense of irony!)
July 17th, 2010 at 16:31
I still want to know why they always promise you the world at a time when nothing means anything anymore to anyone and at a time when nothing can be proven: i.e. in death.
I believe that I may be coming to understand old sillie. If the two of us where discussing the sides of religion and there was an AK-47n standing in a corner; I believe that as we both turned to depart and end the conversation I most likely be the one that would feel, only for a moment that is, the sting of the bullets before I lost consciousness and died.
Why fight the realization..?
July 17th, 2010 at 17:00
John just can’t get it out and over with his
AK-47.
July 17th, 2010 at 19:14
Speaking of animals, if there is a God (that is all good) how can anyone explain the suffering he’s inflicted upon animals? After all, they make up most of the inhabitants on earth, cannot be held responsible for original sin yet for millions of years they eaten each other & nearly 99% of all the animals that have lived on earth are now extincted. What kind of creator could get it so wrong?
July 17th, 2010 at 19:29
I know; it scares the shit out of me. I can live with the fact that in christian countries the faithful carry around bibles to enforce and spread the word. However, I cannot understand why that in muslin countries the faithful carry around AK 47s to enforced and spread that dogmas word.
July 17th, 2010 at 20:05
I’m not too impressed with this quote. It’s really based on flawed reasoning. For one thing, the quote author seems to make the assumption that the things people do in the name of a religion would be based on some actual directive from the one(s) they worship. However, the existence of some magical creator being is in no way incompatible with a mass of people believing any number of ridiculous things about whatever. In fact, most religious people don’t even seem to know the official tenets of their self-proclaimed religion. Bottom line is: Nothing the religious (or non-religious) say or do is, in itself, evidence for or against the existence of a magical creator being. Furthermore, as much as I might like to resist this truth, the fact that Believers use consistently and fatally flawed logic to support their beliefs in now way invalidates their conclusions.
July 17th, 2010 at 20:48
I guess I sort of agree and would like to add that religion also seems to be a conveyance for the overlords of the foolish flock to force their personal likes and dislikes on the group. Look at Kite Flying and those stupid towel-banners; they saw people enjoying themselves and cracked down and outlawed the fun. Even dancing used to be outlawed with some christians. He that has the power makes the rules, regardless of how foolish those rules made be.
July 17th, 2010 at 21:53
In a trivial sense this is true, in that it is possible to arrive at the right answer with the wrong logic, but only by accident. Given the conclusions that can be drawn by using the right logical framework I’ll continue to bet against any God as described by religion.
Sol
That statement of willful ignorance has earned you my Tim Minchin QOTD. Congratulations here it is
I doubt you are a hippy Sol, but it sums you up nonetheless.
July 17th, 2010 at 22:57
“So your query of why god granted wealth or the opposite to someone have become of no significance.”
I never made such a query. After all I do not believe in a god much less one that grants wealth. I am only looking for good explanations as to why you feel you can make assertions as if they are assumed true ie. that there is a god and that she is testing us. We can’t really even begin until you prove this god exists and is intervening in our lives. So until you can do that your statements of “truth” are irrelevant.
July 17th, 2010 at 23:49
Solomon do you believe that the Almighty God created everything?
July 17th, 2010 at 23:51
I do He don,t make junk so be very careful how you refer to the people who are here on this site. they are Gods creatures also.Judge not less you be judged also
July 17th, 2010 at 23:53
They may not believe in God but they are still gods creatures.I love them all.
July 18th, 2010 at 9:08
I too love them all, thats why I do all my best with true heart to save them from hell. It’s because they are too stubborn I have to borrow some harse words just to make them understand.
July 18th, 2010 at 9:13
ernie,
I don’t simply make assertions. What I’ve told all is originated from the book ‘qoran’.
July 18th, 2010 at 9:27
Why do all go through the same crap with him every week? It is pointless and boring and i implore you all to reserve you’re energy for a worthwhile discussion. Not this circular, dogmatic garbage. You are all playing exaclty the game he wants you to play.
July 18th, 2010 at 9:36
GodKilla,
It would be boring & unchallenging ain’t it listening to one sided lies by your lots?
July 18th, 2010 at 11:16
Braathwaat,
God did’nt got anything wrong. Its you that always skeptic to god. You slaughter animals and ate them too. It’s delicious ain’t it? Not only animals kills each other for food, the microbes too. Every day you kill billions of organisms when you boil your cup of water. See gods ways is to create living things, and all living things must die. And the method of dying is in so many ways.
July 18th, 2010 at 11:18
Ignorance isn’t a challenge, it is just boring. The objective of this forum is to discuss a daily quote, not to provide you with a platform from which to spew your idiotic and repetitive vitriol. I repeat, why do the rest of you allow this to happen?
July 18th, 2010 at 14:38
GodKilla,
All you know to shout is just ignorance, never knowing for what it implies. If you think this site is boring, you can bring along your ass to other sites, while others are ok with what I’am trying to brought forth.
July 18th, 2010 at 15:22
Actually people are not ok with it. They never will be until you learn to use common sense.
July 18th, 2010 at 15:25
GodKilla is right. There is no positive use for engaging people like solomon.
July 18th, 2010 at 18:10
All of you are only interested to rid of me coz you all don’t want truth to surface and you all can’t challenge this one and only Solomon. Thats the main reason. Chicken! Puk…puk..puk…
July 19th, 2010 at 2:58
Solomon, you are a child putting forward childish arguments. As every adult knows a child will insist he is right even in the face of clear evidence to the contrary and will usually throw a tantrum when presented with the facts. That is why you are boring. You do not understand the concept of debate and that is why you are and will always remain ignorant. I know i am not the only person here that is tired of your silly statements and fundamentalist rhetoric and, coupled with the above, this is an ATHEIST forum and you do not belong here.
July 19th, 2010 at 13:06
GodKilla,
To hell with your rubbish accusations. You did’nt know or aquire a thing about absolute truth. This is not your personal site. Everybody is free to come and go.
July 19th, 2010 at 14:59
This quote captures the substance of my life-long problem with religion. How people can flatter themselves into thinking that they could ‘offend’ an omnipotent being is beyond my comprehension.
