“Religion ends and philosophy begins, just as alchemy ends and chemistry begins and astrology ends, and astronomy begins.”

True, as no one gives up power easily especially when there is so much money to gain or misery the share. It will end although, someday…

It will definitely end but I’m not so sure it will be down to the maturing of the human race and the leaving behind of superstitious mumbo jumbo. we may need to wait until the sun turns into a red giant, swells to 200 times its current size and turns the earth into a mass of molton rock before consuming it altogether. It’s going to happen one day!
One addition to Christpher’s statement;
Religious dogma ends and secular government begins…
…or should anyway…
Get well soon Mr H.

I’m not sure any of the above are ended. Astrology? open your newspaper. Alchemy? Homeopathy. There will always be a market for woo unfortunately.

I would add psychology and its products (e.g., psychotherapy) to philosophy as a replacement for religion. I don’t see religion simply as a means to answering big questions; it fulfills many psychological needs beyond this.

The Atheists are simply uttering words like physiology & all that sorts without knowing what the f**k theyre talking about.

Unfortunately religion doesn’t end & the “end of days” it will become a self-fulfilling prophecy when at some point WMD’s will be used in the name of god

Christopher Hitchens, though pretentious, has such a beautiful way with words.
One of my favorite quotes is from him:
“We need to have inoculation against plague, not the spread of a more gentle version of it.”
-On moderate religion, during a debate with Alistar MacGrath
