“Rights are for individuals, not for religions or beliefs. 'Every human is equal' does not mean that every belief is equal.”

Rights is for everything that is right, be it religion or other matters. Anyway nobody mentions that belief should be equal.

Richard Dawkins and his way of speaking has helped me make a nice clean transition from superstitious thinking and illogical religious belief to rational thinking and reason. My life has never been better.

Well done the Dawk. Through books such as The Selfish Gene, the work of Hamilton, Fisher and Maynrd Smith I now know how we got here and I know why. None of these important ideas were part of my school or university education.
We have a long way to go if we are to overturn the years of religious indoctrination still inflicted on our precious children.

When beliefs without evidence (which is a good description of religion) are treated as being above analysis and criticism, discrimination against non-believers often results. It is used to ‘justify’ some very ugly theocracies.
We are seeing efforts at the United Nation to protect religion from any criticism. For this reason, this is a quotation that I hope is heeded at the highest levels.

Eric Martin,
You have blantantly ignore all the evidence and proofs around you. You have chosen hell.

Atheism New Zealand,
Richard Dawkins have succesfully swayed you from the true path & straight to hell.
You or Dawkins did’nt even know what form truth is,have the urgh to rant about rational thinking or reason that they themselves does’nt realy understand. Just citing retoric words without absolute confidence while most of my doctrine questions remains unanswered or could’nt be refuted.
Who creates the 1st design of things…? for example.

If hell does not contain dim-witted persons, such as yourself, where do I buy tickets?
July 25th, 2010 at 16:29
Of cause Hell does not contain people such as myself. You don’t need to buy tickets. Your sins are your tickets.

Solomon, the evidence I see suggests strongly that I have chosen reality.
However, I am willing to listen to what you think are the “evidence and proofs”. It would also be helpful if you set out what the characteristics you believe your god has – is it loving and kind, or vengeful, for example? I’d guess the latter, given your frequent references to hell.
To convince me, you’ll have to do better than than argue from first design. Putting forward the notion that there must be a designer is a much more complex hypothesis than accepting that the universe just came into being through means that we can’t explain – yet.

I agree with the quote. Equal humans are entitled to hold unequal beliefs. And a great many of those beliefs deserve ridicule, as r(sol) has been doing his level best to demonstrate.
Sam Harris has made a similar point in saying we do a disservice by affording religious beliefs that are obviously damaging or dangerous a special dispensation against the ridicule they deserve for the sole reason that they are a person’s religion.

belief – noun
1. something believed; an opinion or conviction: a belief that the earth is flat.
2. confidence in the truth or existence of something not immediately susceptible to rigorous proof: a statement unworthy of belief.
Upon reviewing at the meaning of the word, one should logically conclude that all religions should be held in equal distain due to a universal lack of evidence.

Eric, don’t feed the troll.
For him, the term “proof” means nothing more than “what I have been told, cannot understand, so must accept”.
He has the brain-power of a small child, so please don’t ask him to provide evidence or proof. He simply does not have the intellectual capacity to comply with such requests.
Ask him to quote the Qu’ran, however, and he’ll spout nonsense all day long.

Was it not the Nazis and the christian inquests that put words, beliefs and thoughts before the human? Is that currently the same that all religions have to offer us today? Just words… Why has there not been anything new in the last 1400 years? Could that be that there never was….?
