“There's little enough love in world without condemning it because the lovers are of the same sex. But what do you honestly expect from the institution which imprisoned Copernicus, Stoned to death the first female leader of the Pythagoreans, burned and drowned middle aged spinsters with a fondness for cats, gave us the Inquisition, tithed generations of the poor below the breadline and has fomented 2000 years of warfare and genocide?”

Anon.

    Murderers, rapists, and pedophiles to marry as long as it is in a heterosexual relationship, yet gays get “civil union” at best. Just Google the term “separate, but equal” to see how this applies.

    Granted, this is coming from the institutions that let pedophiles roam free within their system, and if a problem arises, they just relocate and bury the documents and stories.

    Today all the Catholic bishops in New South Wales (Australia) signed a document warning the faithful not to vote for the Green Party (in the upcoming State Election) because, among other things, the Greens would not allow the Church to continue to discriminate against same-sex couples.

    They’re also worried that some of their excess millions $$$ might be given to some of the poorer schools, if the Greens are elected.

    Words fail me…..

    Todays QOTD points out a list of terrible crimes by the “church” I absolutely agree with the whole quote !! But why is it the first two reponses comment on the anti homosexual component only. I am an atheist – just one of millions thoughout the world. I oppose all discrimination against adult consensual behaviour – but frankly this only a small area of the problems. This concentration on a minority who seem to feel their issues are the only ones deserving priority bores me.

    @Doubting Thomas
    Probably because the church has been cutting witches and scientists a bit more slack recently.

  5. The Heretic Says:

    Depends on the country you are in. Didn’t I just read a story about people in Africa putting a witch to death?

    heretic……………….sounds like something that would happen in africa

    @Heretic
    Granted, I was having a provincial moment 🙂 But I understand they execute homosexuals there too.
    To take Doubting Thomas’ point more seriously though, the gender issue is something of a touchstone for religious intolerance and in the west it is the most visible along with their misogynism. It does command a lot of attention, but it probably needs to.
