“It took centuries for the West to shake off the control of the religious and make progress in science, technology and human rights. However, we are still required to be vigilant against religious power-seekers and against ideologies and cults which bear similarities to religion such as communism and fascism.”

I’m certain that the realm of religion – where claims can be made without evidence yet never be questioned – provide rich pickings for the plethora of personality types desiring control of others.

We forget how superstitious and primitive-thinking we were a bare hundred years ago. Education funding and quality is today at the lowest point in American history. The mood is ripe for stirring raw emotions, hate-mongering by fundamentalists at home, and lack of patience with parts of the Islamic world which have barely entered a modern age, apart from having modern weapons. Our own military is being converted to Soldiers of the Cross. With a dumbed-down population, ruled by a plutocracy, the misery of the Middle Ages is set to be replayed.

Global Warming, anyone? It has been debunked in numerous ways. Yet, people are still shrieking “Deniers!!!!”. They want people jailed who do not believe. The modern day fanatical cult.

@The Heretic- you’ve said that several times here but from my point of view it’s you in the modern day fanatical cult along with the anti-vacsors.

    LOL

    The Heretic,
You’ve been asked for a citation before, and like a creationist when it comes to evolution, you’ve always refuse to provide one. How about this time?

Whilst I can see some vague similarities in some aspects of “environmentalism” with cults, global warming has more than enough basic science and observational evidence to support it without postulating a conspiracy. Heretic, support your claims please.

I can’t hear Heretic over the cricket that’s chirping in here.
