“The 'new theists' don't make nuanced theological arguments – they believe Genesis is a literal account of the creation of the Earth. They don't build cathedrals like Chartres – they build megachurches that look like Wal-Marts. They don't paint emotionally breathtaking still lifes – they make absurd YouTube movies about how bananas prove 'intelligent design'.”

They also go digging for dinosaur bones in an attempt to prove they became extinct after a great flood, circa 2300 BC!
And build museums to show humans living alongside dinosaurs!
But are blind to the huge weight of scientific evidence that says otherwise, claiming that “scientists are all biased” without the slightest hint of irony!

“It is next to useless discussing real science with creationists. No matter what proven evidence you show them that has been compiled and tested for centuries by millions of scientists, they will refuse it because their minds are already made up.” Terence M.
Thus, “it is only a theory” (Ronald Reagan and others).
David Bennett: “A practical demonstration for Creationists. Take them to the edge of a high cliff. Ask them to stand facing the edge and say in a loud voice “gravity is only a theory, not a fact”. Then tell them to take a running jump!”
And on those who are brain-dead:
“To argue with a person who has renounced the use of reason is like administering medicine to the dead.” Thomas Paine, in The Age of Reason

Great example of how the religious mind works: “If you say something often enough and loud enough, it must be true.” So they go and build this silly place

knowing that it is based on lies – but hoping that the lies will be believed since they were broadcast in a museum.
