“Growing up in Ireland, a Catholic country, I have seen the harm a lack of separation between church and state can wreak.”

Religion & government should go hand in hand. These are the weakness of unbelievers on the understanding. Religion is actually a way of life. Its not only ritual. A way of life that everyone should lead. And it have been nicely outlined by God non other than for the benefit of mankind themselves. The stronger the bond between the two, the prosperous the kingdom will become.

  2. archaeopteryx Says:

A lot of unjustified statements in your last post, solomon. On your final point, evidence suggests that the contrary is true. There’s the “e” word again!

I brought up a family in Ireland and I agree with the quotation.

  3. Jezebel Says:

Absolutely, Archaeopteryx! In fact, there’s such a blurry line between the two that many older Irish Catholics can’t tell the difference between mythology and fact. As children growing up Catholic, being taught by Irish nuns, we were fed all manner of strange stories and imagery that was taught as the Truth. Religion has been responsible for screwing up so many minds, so to let these same people loose in our parliaments is asking for trouble when they have such a warped sense of reality.

  4. Hypatia Says:

“A way of life that everyone should lead.”

Who are you to tell other people how they should live?

  5. Jezebel Says:

Solomon? Isn’t he the guy who had 700 wives and 300 concubines?? What a paragon of family values!

  6. Dan Says:

    Solly,

Religion is actually a way of life. A way of life that everyone should lead.

How do you figure? It just seems like a waste of time and energy to lead a life devoted to things that don’t exist such as gods and other such things.

  7. solomon Says:

    Dan,

You are only denying that God did’nt exists. There’s ample of evidence proving it. Regret will be of no use when one day you will wake up and find yourself in the confinement of your grave. That will be the beginning of an endless torturing life. Repent and get back to God before its too late. Heed the advice of wise men.

  8. Dan Says:

You are only denying that God did’nt exists. There’s ample of evidence proving it.

You’ve said that before, and you’ve been asked to provide even one piece of such evidence. But you’ve never been able to. Can you provide any such evidence now?

If not, then please stop making things up.

  9. solomon Says:

I’ve said it before & again. YOU’RE JUST DENYING THE EXISTENCE OF GOD. There’s countless of evidence around you.

  10. Dan Says:

There’s countless of evidence around you.

    Such as?

  11. solomon Says:

Such as ‘your nose are not design upside down’.

  12. solomon Says:

There’s a particular kind of star somewhere.
    That is no delusion.
    There’s God somewhere.
    That is no delusion.

  13. Sinjin Smythe Says:

solomon Says: Religion is actually a way of life.

Dictionaries say: it is the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power or belief in the existence of a god or gods, especially. belief in one god as creator of the universe, intervening in it and sustaining a personal relation to his creatures

I say: Anyone who deludes themselves with silly thoughts about superhuman powers, gods or a god personification that created the universe, and the intervention of such persona in the lives of the variety of organism that happen to be located on our partucular pale blue dot in the cosmos isn’t actually living.

You can not really live in Plato’s cave, or in front of the TV, or in the pews of a church.

No Solomon, religion isn’t a way of life, it is a way to avoid living. It is a fantasy, nothing more.

  14. Sinjin Smythe Says:

Solomon the only god anywhere is in the minds of the feeble minded.

  15. Dan Says:

Such as ‘your nose are not design upside down’.

    That’s just stupid.

I’ll ask you again: Do you have any evidence that god exists (except in feeble minds)?

everyone have a good weekend !!

I’m more interested in Solly’s use of the word “Kingdom”. I mean I live in a country with a monarchy but government is democratic even though not strictly secular. Now a monarch might inflict one particular religion on the population, but a democratic government wouldn’t get away with it for long these days.
