If Ms Balchin means conservative in the social sense, then I agree. It’s possible to be a liberal on social issues, but a conservative on financial matters.

It is indeed important to single out Social Conservatism as the cancerous blight that it is, and separate it from other forms of conservatism.
I will never understand American social conservatives. They’re pro-life, but also pro-war and pro capital punishment. They love to show off their patriotism but they seem to detest freedom and equality and are often wholly ignorant of America’s history and its constitution: believing it secures for them a right to reserve a privileged status for christianity. After witnessing the vile and contemptuous “values” that social conservatism promotes, and the actions and behavior from social conservatives I have been forced to conclude that social conservatives are indeed one of the most vile and freedom hating groups you can find in the U.S.
