The atheists does not have to wait long to harass anyone. They do it all the time.
You’ve had atheists wake you up on Saturday mornings, knocking on your front door, just waiting to give you a dose of their abnoxious self-righteousness?????
(Like the Christians in my neighborhood and across both countries I’ve lived in)
Nor do atheists threaten anyone with hell. Kind of silly, really. But fun to point out. Why would we, really? We don’t believe in gods, devils, heavens or hells. But we do believe in rationality and we do advocate for rational things to be taught in schools. And we will, if pressed, point out that religious belief is ludicrous. But visiting the dying to challenge their comfortable myths? That seems unkind to me.
Well, I think most atheists have a sense of humour, and one who had got fed up of Mormon doorstep tactics decided to retaliate to see what would happen. Armed with a copy of “The God Delusion” (or similar tome), he went to Salt Lake City to “convert” them. He made a YouTube video and the result was hilarious – their outrage was a thing to behold.
Unfortunately, I can’t find the video now. I’ll keep looking and post a link if I find it.
The atheists fail to realize what they have been doing.
Spurting lies inside every books or blogs all this while.
Yet they make a fuss when religionists try to save their fellow brothers from the fires of !!HELL!!
It is interesting how atheists have taken so well to the web, the number of sceptical and atheist blogs is phenomenal now, as is the quality of many of them. I put this down to our superior intellect 🙂
Of course nobody is forced to read the God delusion or Pharyngula or Greta Christina and I ‘ve yet to have Ophelia Benson knocking down my door on a Sunday morning to inform me that Jesus doesn’t want me for a sunbeam. So the willfully ignorant can remain so as long as they don’t shove their religion at me, in which case I will attempt to educate them.
The religionists are only trying to reach their brothers by first hand method ie. one to one. And they too don’t force or shove their religion to one (often accused by atheists). They should in turn be appreciated by their sincere and rewardless act.
I’ve been thinking about what I’ll do when the next pair of mormons visits my door. I’m thinking I’ll pull out three beers and insist that they have one with me in order to give their prepared speech. Then I’ll ask pointed questions about sexism and batshit crazy celestial god theories (Don’t they believe that the more children a man has, the more subjects he has when he becomes a God on his very own world? Or is that only FLDS?) We’ll definitely have to discuss Warren Jeffs. They will never live that one down.
Just like god being imaginary, hell and heaven are just imaginary places and as the adjective “imaginary” denotes, do not exist, nor can anyone prove they exist. And for someone to go on and say they know what is in hell or is in heaven, is simply talking out their ass.
No rational and intelligent man would ever come to the conclusion that an invisible being is at the cause of anything in the human condition, or has places he will send us.
Western Religion still perpetuates afterlife bullshit of the ancient Egyptians. To think it is a noble cause to lie to people and tell them they will live after death is an oxymoron and blatant lie.
We need to learn that this life is our only chance and it ends at death.
How about another quote:
“Be thankful that you have a life, and forsake your vain and presumptuous desire for a second one.”
– Richard Dawkins
Religion is too busy telling you it is the truth to actually care what the truth really is.
Ask Warren Jeffs about Spurting Lies. Actually, he got it on tape (and he got it on 12-year-olds) EWWWWWWW.
I think a lot of those girls knew it was wrong. You can’t fool everyone into thinking that something that creepy is really a holy act. There are books by former plural-wives that call out the insanity.
Funny, Sol, that you say that theists wish to spread their knowledge by “first hand method”.
It’s too bad they didn’t GAIN this knowledge by any first hand method, but have only chosen to believe books printed by man. This is second hand at BEST, and a thousandth hand in reality! Why don’t the gods deliver their OWN message first hand?
Should we trust the word of ANYONE who tells us about gods that they’ve never met first hand themselves? Everyone? Every word? Dangerous gullibility. I will trust what can be proven, demonstrated, and repeated.
Its pure speculation theists did not GAIN knowledge by any first hand method & pure guessing God does not deliver his message first hand. Theists are the pioneers in science or researches. The true “book” provide the ultimate truth & act as a guide and basis to proove a certain research or knowledge.
God deliver his message first hand by providing the thoughts, the brains as a tool and the physical laws and phenomenons as a scheme ready on a plate to be picked up or mingle with up to ones creativeness.
Theists are the pioneers in science or researches.
Sure, some theists were pioneers in science and such, but they were heavily persecuted all too often, for their heretical researches. So let’s not pretend that religion is friendly to knowledge seekers in history, okay?
Solomon, I know I’m a day late, but… It’s ALL pure speculation either way! The whole THING is pure guessing! It isn’t reliable at all, so there’s no POINT in ascribing belief to it.
You say god delivered “thoughts” to people, but how do we know to believe them? What stops someone from just CLAIMING that a god put thoughts into their head? You wouldn’t believe someone making a claim like that today!

Nor have I heard of Athiests passing out tracts on doorsteps, but it’s not a bad idea (the tracts, not harrassing old folks)

Reality, Kind of fricking obvious isn’t it? Life ends at death.

I think afterlife is a 5-second hallucination of the dying brain, probably orchestrated by the pineal gland. One last floaty trip before……..
nothin’

Could you give at least one example of an atheist “lie?”
“Hell — !!HELL!! I tell you!”
LOL I guess you don’t want to be taken seriously around here! Oh well, Mai Tai’s on me!!!

ElectrabotanicaL……………………
Im SO happy you mentioned Warren Jeffs. i had’nt seen any word about him
on here and i was gonna bring him up today.
Aint he a pistol ???? it’s really to easy to toss him off as delusional.
i think he’s just another perv….but the interesting thing is that he got
all his pals to BELIEVE he SHOULD be a perv !!!!
now THAT’s not an easy trick !!! what a F–king J–k Off !!!!!
ANYWAY ANYWAY…………………….
the quote today is (( i think )) really kinda silly. atheists , in my
experience with them, never waste time or effort on ANY kind of
“conversion” of ideas. people are gonna think whatever they think.
however, again, in my experience, atheists are QUITE willing to explain
and share their thoughts………..and, as a matter of fact, probably
spend MORE time thinking about and discussing the great mysteries
than the religionistas.
see ya later.
August 11th, 2011 at 16:12
one more thing………………….
listen Dan…you mad-cap ne’er do well, you get the first round of mai-tais, and
i’ll get the second…………..
and the i want your views on ” SPURTING ” lies.
what does it mean…….how is it done ????????????
is it anything PERVERTED ????????????? heh-heh

I’m sure much of the proselytising the religionists do is sincere, but they do expect to be rewarded in Oz …er I mean heaven.

That’s a good point Edmond – and to that point, Solomon has always appeared to hold the use of one’s intellect in the greatest disdain.
