mysterious, ineffable, and unknowable is religions undoing. Why would an omnipotent supernatural diety be these things?
It doesn’t make sense. All being, master of time space and dimension, and then also secretive, hidden, and very quiet,
Anything this big can’t hide, anything this omnipresent can’t help but get in your way all the time.

If God is mysterious, ineffable, unknowable, secretive, hidden and very quiet how can theists possibly know anything about him. I would suggest that this demonstrates that God is a human construction. The theists have shot themselves in the foot there!

Scarlet, I hate to say it, but I believe your aim point is a bit low – somewhere between 5 and 6 feet on most of ’em. It’s their brains that have been scrambled by the bullet, not the foot bones. Of course that’s just my rationalist bias speaking.

When god takes on a lot of the same characteristics as Nessie of the Loch, Sasquatch, and other never seen creatures it becomes more than just a leap of faith. Suspending reason is the single most significant avenue to mental illness.

This mysterious, ineffable, and unknowable God sure does generate some hot air though. I made the mistake of trying to understand some of Plantinga’s take on the Ontological argument last night and I’ve never read so much post-modern claptrap in my life (this guy could almost be a sociologist). “Sophisticated” theology is exactly the attempt to answer the premise of the quote and reason into existence a being that patently isn’t there.

Mr Smythe,
Loved the brain scan video – having trained my partner into the ability to have VERY long orgasms, I loved seeing what goes on in her brain once I turn her loose. Noisy but really fun!!! Thank heavens the kids are gone!!!
Thanks for the link.

God is out there but She’s very very shy?
