“Celibacy is the issue Rome is trying desperately to keep out of the debate. The terribly negative teaching on sexuality is a significant component [in sexual abuse cases] but it doesn't want to address the effect it is having.”

Honestly I don’t think they are having to work very hard. There really isn’t much of a debate, is there? I’ve read about the celibacy issue being taken up by sociologists and psychologists but the kinds of academic points scored in this domain seem to make little impact in the popular one. Am I wrong? Have I missed the public debate that the good father seems to think the church is working hard to avoid?

From psychology we know there are the full range of positive and negative traits within all people. Light and dark, good and evil.

For the great majority of people the traits are not pronounced or extreme.

For some the extreme trait that is obvious, or that they individual makes well known, masks and extremity in its opposite. One that they actively seek to conceal, cover up, and hide.

The depth of denial may be so deep that the person has no conscious recognition of the trait.

I have said in this forum before that the Catholic church is a false front designed to concela a cult of sociopathis pedophiles. That all religion is.

Vows of celibacy are the dead give away. If you know anything about psychology you know this to be the case.

It is not a committment to god or a vow or any kind of deprivation a priest makes to honor god. It is a lie to conceal the hidden perversions of the clergy.
