“I thought faith was ignorant and childish forty years ago when I was a child, along with most of my classmates. Getting beaten for such blasphemy by our believing headmaster reinforced my thinking.”

I was told that I was not welcome in the Cub Scouts because I refused to pray or take part in Church Parades. Aged 9.

They wouldn’t put “atheist” on my dog tag in the military, instead they reluctantly agreed to “No Rel Pref”.

Two things about the military and atheists: First, you can now be buried in a National Cemetery under a headstone with the atheist atom symbol on it, provided you can get your next of kin to agree, and second; I just heard a story on NPR about a move to get atheist chaplains into uniform. Just not sure how to qualify, or I might just volunteer for that one – provided I didn’t have to take the military oath.

I remember being punished by being put in the corner of my 4th grade homeroom class in 1967 for asking my teacher “who invented god?”.

Just got this from another QOTD site:

When it’s a question of money, everybody is of the same religion. – Voltaire

Isn’t it wonderful that there IS religious agreement in the world?
