“The thing that kills me is how many people think evolution should be taught just because people need to be exposed to different opinions. No, it should be taught because it is true!”

The evidence supports Jen McCreight’s argument – evolution is demeaned by referring to it as an opinion, whereas creationism in its many guises is nothing more than wanting something to be true.

  2. The Heretic Says:

Technically it is a theory. But, it has lots of tangible evidence. And there is no other theory out there with tangible evidence – at present. I am still waiting for ‘Ancient Aliens’ to come up with something. LOL.

  3. Carbon14 Says:

I think people misunderstand the use of the word theory.

The Theory of Evolution is there to explain the observable fact of evolution. The fact that evolution occurs is not in question.

  4. Sinjin Smythe Says:

Equating the creation hypothesis to the theory of evolution has but one significant value: It identifies the idiot and the charlatan.

Obviously the person making such an assumption is without an understanding of the words hypothesis and theory or is deliberating playing a confidence trick on the gullible dope that doesn’t.

As for the placating politicians who profess religiosity for no other reason than to win the votes of the brainless they ought to better educate our population, not feed of their stupidity.

The recent Tennessee legislation is an embarrassment of epic proportion.

  5. Sinjin Smythe Says:

Dang it! I should have said it is “an embarrassment of biblical proportion”.

  6. Carbon14 Says:

The Cambridge dictionary defines theory as “a formal statement of the rules on which a subject of study is based or of ideas which are suggested to explain a fact or event”

Creationists deny the observations, not just the science.

  7. Sinjin Smythe Says:

To be as simple as necessary for those that do not understand the difference:

Hypothesis = educated guess at best, not supported by evidence; creationism/intelligent design

Law = natural phenomenon that has been proven to occur but is not explained as to why it occurs; law of gravity

Theory = hypothesis supported by evidence, accepted as fact; evolution

The funny thing about the whole creation vs evolution debate is that evolution is really the coming together of a multitude of independent scientific examiners to validate something and creationism/intelligent design is really as divided as religion is itself where one faith will outright stand up to invalidate another.
