Wish it was so here, in Britain.
Instead we have mediocre governments, one after the other, who defy financial and sensible logic in appeasing the poverty claims of the well-endowed Church of England (thousands of little used churches need repair)and, more recently, the undeserving claims of Muslims, Jews and Evangelical Christians in acquiring tax-payers money to found ‘faith’ schools—where faith is more akin to fake.

  2. Terence Meaden Says:

£15m of tax payers money is being given to the Church to help repair British churches because there are people with faith in miracles and magic, virgin births and resurrection, talking donkeys and sniping serpents. Faith: the fake beliefs in which you can believe any absurdities you want and get away with it despite a lack of any supporting evidence. Faith: the beliefs that make some murder with bombs and bullets, and others to fly aircraft filled with innocent people into buildings full of innocent people. Faith: the fraud that is endlessly perpetuated because there are far more gullible humans in this world than there are sensible ones endowed with proper commonsense.

On the bright side, the collapse of congregations has been so dramatic that the CoE has had to close many churches. So much so that it’s become fashionable to buy up abandoned churches and convert them to ‘designer’ apartments.

Why anyone would want to live in a deconsecrated church is beyond me!

  4. Victor Pedraz Says:

Don’t confuse statements made by the state constitution as fact. This is a state of redneck republicans who are able to manuever tax payer money to their own pet ‘faith based’ initiatives from day care to prison rehab. At least the British are telling the public that it is going to restore the churches! I’d rather have the truth.

We could hold atheist meetings there and ring the bells to invite everyone in.
