“British churches are empty enough to land jumbo jets.”

It’s what happens when your customers figure out you are peddling vaporware.

Given that there is a considerable lack of housing in London, I think more of them should be turned into flats 😉

At least they would have a use then…

    Great line Cap’n!

And Panz I’ve often thought the same thing. What happened to the vows of poverty? What would Jesus think of the colossal waste that is the Vatican? What about the holdings of massive wealth while the poor lie starving beyond the gates of the Vatican?

It isn’t just British churches either. Sure there are well publicized mega-churches in the US packed with mindless simpletons, who on one side of their mouths vomit talk of Christian charity while simultaneously expelling diarrhea from other side about illegal immigration. The great many ordinary churches are rarely ever at 25% capacity.

The clergy joke goes something like this: plenty of people claim to be on the team, but few show up for practice. I call these people those “Waiting for Godot”, where these folks aren’t really sure of what or who it they are waiting for. The just wait! Claiming to be “on the team” but not really invested in the wholething. In their wait will one day come some sort of distraction and like the herd they are they will move onto another pasture.

Maybe Scientology, the Force, it doesn’t matter they never really get on board anyway. The are those uncommitted, uncommitted to embracing anything that requires thought or thinking. They don’t openly reject popular norms, but they don’t stand in opposition to them either. Live and let live is a popular phrase among them. The will never be part of the revolution but the are inclined to riot.

On the team, whatever team that is of their social bias, unable in many cases to even contemplate a new direction. I’m a Christian, I’m on this team, a Philadelphia Eagles fan, my team is better than yours and ready to fight if they must.

You see them after the soccer match fighting, tearing Vancouver apart after the Stanley Cup Championship. Don’t really count them among the faithful, their faith wouldn’t half fill a thimble.

We talked of education yesterday. The battle between social progressives and conservatives is for these folks. A battle between evolving them socially and retarding their intellectual growth to continue to hold dominion over them.

    Religion is evil!

You ever notice how churches seem to take up the best plots of land in town? With the most opulent buildings that money can buy? For ‘so-called’ charity organizations they spend tons of money on appearances and location. If they are empty, maybe that land can finally go to some good use.

Panz.. What a great idea! I’d LOVE to live in a converted church. And what a spit in the eye to have someone like ME there.. Heh heh heh…

    Sinjin,

I put up an answer to our discussion of yesterday at the end of yesterday’s blog. Got nothin’ for this one.
