“The true frauds and hypocrites are the founding fathers of the Christian church 2000 years ago who cooked up the most incredible hotch potch of Jewish folk legend, pagan tradition and assorted ritual flim flam to produce the most unbelievable religious faith ever invented by man. What is always amazing is that they then persuaded not only illiterate plebs but ultimately the educated patricians of the Roman Empire to believe it all, using fanatical and murderous monks to drive the point home as in the tragic case of poor, beautiful, Greek female Mathematician Hypatia, scraped to death, chopped up and thrown on the fire as a demon by the Christian Taliban!”

The thing that always bothered me when I was in the church and now baffles me even more is how these people act like they know and that people believe with out question.
One of the key questions I always had was how do you know for sure?
have you had a conversation with god? have you been dead and have you seen heaven?, Hell have you even known anyone that has?
If the answer no know then why presume that anyone could know more than you unless they have experienced it first hand. If there is no proof, how can you just believe it? I understand the Psychology behind it, it just baffles the hell out of me that it’s true.

So I never leave my own opinions here, but thought that this was too good to pass up. I am actually an agnostic, not an atheist, however, I do not believe that some huge being is going to punish me because I made a mistake and so on.
Anyway, my belief is that Christianity was founded for cold, hard cash and people who needed something to believe to get them through a rough time swallowed it whole. Also, humans are notorious for loving their violence & Christianity gave them lots of blood and guts. It was an excuse to give in to baser instincts. It’s my opinion that the be good to your neighbor & be nice to people, etc. is just a front to excuse the tyrants to do what they please with a reason to shut the common people up.

As to the whole idea of having asked God, and getting proof for religion, I have actually asked this question of Christians. The response has always been, “Well you have to have some blind faith.” No thanks.

Personally, I think it started more as a charismatic personality cult, with a little zealous (anti-Roman) nationalism thrown in. The missing body sounds like the work of obsessive followers to me. And the fact that the only people to see him return from the dead where cult members seems entirely predictable.

But, as with Elvis, death can be good PR. And once the cult gained popularity all sorts of people, with various motives, jumped on the bandwagon.

That hurt, I can tell you!

    No thanks indeed!

Believers are truly put in an untenable position when trying to explain their irrationalities. Your reply is so simple and directly to the point that it is just more evidence of the irrationality of the religious mind that they do not see the ridiculousness of their convictions.

Actually, that would make a great bumper sticker:

    “Religion? No thanks!”

You should copyright that and get the presses rolling…….

You seem to have made a miraculous recovery. Well done!

I’ve just got to add, that those Coptic Christians sure knew how to treat intelligent women: drag them through the streets behind a chariot, flay them alive, then burn them. After they finished, I bet there were slaps on the back all around as they headed for the pub. Remember, Christianity is all about love.

May the peace of Christ be with you……
