“People claim the world is less than 10,000 years old which is wrong by a great many orders of magnitude. Earth is several billion years old. These individuals are not just silly, they are colossally, staggeringly ignorant.”

Mr Dawkins is 110% correct. Religion is now, more than ever, the “opiate of the masses”.

These individuals are not just silly, they are colossally, staggeringly and willfuly ignorant

Imagine a supernatural entity propping up this existence for a loosely defined purpose of testing the allegiance of of certain animals to himself or one of his fallen angels. That those that commit to perpetual worship of him will live with him and have the opportunity to exist with him for all eternity worshipping him. For those foolish enough not to see this as desirable there is eternal pain in hell with the fallen angel.

Now remember something happened to cause this fallen angel to fall, something caused him to choose eternal damnation over worshipping the head diety for eternity.

For me it is all very simple, read the story, the head diety is a simpleton with ego problems. I wouldn’t worship anyone let alone some great grand simpleton.

But there is that burning in hell thing, you have to admit fire can be quite the motivator. Even if the simpleton with ego problems is the greatest bore might fire be better, or maybe there is no fire/the other option isn’t quite what is depicted in the human transcribed book of the supreme simpleton?

When you hear people talking about the bible as some great book, about its writing as something supremely good, don’t you just wonder if they have ever read the book? Don’t you wonder if they read at all.

It is at least very damning of the bible that the people most likely to have read it are also most likely atheist.

When you think about the stories of the bible you can’t possibly be surprised that it would have been written a couple of millenia ago. You know back in the days when people were afraid of eclipses, thunderstorms, and other naturaal phenomenon that modern days people deal with fairly well.

When you hear someone apologizing for biblical stupidity or otherwise attempting to argue its validity (nutbags like William Lane Craig) don’t you just want to say “Wake up!”

The word absurd always seems to surround the faithful and their simpleton antics.

Too, what else does the supreme simplton do? Like would he have a day job or is his entire existence friggen with the creature of his creation? Imagin what kind of collossal boob this god must be, were he to exist.

    XHIM………………

your letter of july 21 (( 3 points discussing human suffering ))

was really weak…….all 3 points were weak.

what do you suppose old god would say about the colorado

    theater shootings ????

    i’m with sinjin……religionistas should WAKE UP……but

    they never will.

  6. Sinjin Smythe Says:

R j you are right on again, Xhim’s points were barely more than senseless blather.

“follower of Jesus” Hmmn! What did Jesus follow? See the New Testament was written until after his death so he wasn’t following anything written in it.

Hmmn! Jesus wasn’t a Christian, he was a Jew and the Jews followed teaching held in the Old Testament.

This claim of superiority new to old testament always falls apart when you bring Jesus into it.

    @Stephen

You’re making opiate addicts sound worse than they are…
