“Freedom from religion is a superior right to freedom of religious belief – the former right is the one that makes the latter possible.”

I have to agree with annon. on this point. Freedom of Religion without freedom from it results in folks like Michelle Bachmann who claimed, repeatedly, that her run for President was because God told her to do so. Either she was claiming the gift of Prophecy, or she was reducing God to a party hack who endorses candidates. I think you all know which one I think she was, but nonetheless, our current situation in America lead to the fact that NOBODY in the many Republican debates questioned her on this, for fear of offending the very people who should have been most offended by her claims.

UNLESS, and until, government declares itself a religion free zone there will be no true religious freedom in this nation. That means getting rid of the “So help me God”‘s, the chaplains in our Legislative bodies and the “God bless America”‘s on the stump.

BTW, one should notice just how careful Mr. Romney is on this score. The wrong words out of his mouth could easily result in excommunication or worse in the Mormon church, as these folks believe that there are actual prophets walking among us today. And they take it VERY seriously.
