“I have never been a fan of the 'my God is better than your God' playground stance which divides so much of the world. Nor do I fully understand anyone who commits a foul deed on behalf of their God. I would have thought the whole point of being a god is that you are powerful enough to sort things out by yourself.”

It seems obvious to me that the real playground stance is not “my God is better than your God,” but “My God is STRONGER than your God,” and his strength is in me, and I will beat you up to prove it.

    this is a great quote.

it puts the religionistas in such a nice light…………

    which they richly deserve.

OldAllan has it. It never was a competition between gods. How COULD it be? It is, and always has been, a competition between humans, and their claims. Religion is nothing but a retelling of the old adage “History is written by the victors”. God is the attributable cause when his “chosen” people (an immoral bias) win the battle, but all KINDS of craziness is blamed when they don’t.

Just the sort of no nonsense yet humorous stance I have come to expect from this remarkable woman.

    • The idea of a “virgin birth”, “burial in a rock tomb”, “resurrection after 3 days” and “eating of body and drinking of blood” had nothing to do with Jesus. Christianity freely attached pagan rituals and beliefs in order to be more palatable to converts.
    • Egyptian sun disks became the halos of Catholic saints.
    • Isis nursing her miraculously conceived son Horus became the blueprint for our modern images of the Virgin Mary nursing Baby Jesus.
    • All the elements of the Catholic ritual – the miter, the altar, the doxology, and communion, the act of “God-eating” – were taken directly from earlier pagan mystery religions.”
    • Nothing in Christianity is original. The pre-Christian God Mithras – called the Son of God and the Light of the World – was born on December 25, died, was buried in a rock tomb, and then resurrected in three days. December 25 is also the birthday or Osiris, Adonis, and Dionysus.
    • The newborn Krishna was presented with gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
    • Christianity’s weekly holy day was stolen from the pagans.”
    • Jesus Christ has striking parallels to other deities worshipped in Hellenistic religion, specifically to the cult of Dionysus in the Greek mystery religions and with the Buddha.”

The failure (and seeming success) of these Western religions hinges on the fallacy of Western thought; namely, that we can’t discern allegory from the grass on the ground. So when you take an anthropomorphized tribal deity (Yahweh/El) who is absurdly territorial and try and combine him with other anthropomorphized deities (most pagan deities) who take nobody’s side, you get a religion that is so caustic, it can’t even unite under the same banner. So instead of the deity obviously being on the side of one tribe, you have a deity who is on everyone’s side who can claim it and yet nobody’s side all at once. And I’m not saying that Eastern religions do a better job, but because they understand allegory better than we do one doesn’t see quite as much violence being a result of divided ideologies.

    say little pals……………….

if you’re looking for some original thinking

in the arena of religious thought……

look up ” the church of the sub-genius ”

While christians are annoying when they are in the “jesus”mode
    Islamists are down right scary

I can’t get over the people out there who actually claim that there is no connection whatsoever… of Islam and terrorism… or violence because it is the religion of peace.

I watched half of Steve Emerson’s Jihad in America today….imam after imam in mosque after mosque all accross America – radical islamic leaders drumming up money and recruits all in the name of allah and for islamic jihad…over and over – the people who want to kill the 11 year old kid for accidentally burning a koran… what is that if not islamic violence… Of course they say 9-11 was the occupation.. but we were not “occupiers” we were invited… At least anyone and everyone can attack the christians – no politically correct treatment there, but just say one little thing about muslims or islam.. and you get the bigot label faster than you can say allahu akbar…
