well, you COULD call it notions of right and wrong thinking
and actions…according to whatever writings/teachings
that you consider as holy writ (( laws , words , etc. ))

Add to that list: Control of reproductive functions, power relationships between human beings, international relations…
Now that I think about it, substitute a period for the comma above, and drop the last clause of Mr. Annis quote completely, and I believe you’ve accomplished two things:
First, that is the most likely way to make the statement true.
Second, it most closely resembles the intent of the founders when they drafted the first amendment to the Constitution.
