This can be a good first step in “deprogramming” one from religion, but it is not without its dangers. It does begin the process of freeing the mind from religion by eroding respect of, and ultimately adherence to, religious authority. However, if reason misses its follow-through and the explicit and implicit premise is not eventually defeated, it could lead one to promote oneself as just another unreasonable religious authority over others in their stead; e.g., Martin Luther, John Calvin, etc.
The enthymeme of the quote (that god exists) is an unacceptable one that renders the statement meaningless. It is made much more logically acceptable by prepending it with, “if”. However, it is still not without its problems.
