“It is amazing how childishly gullible humans are. There are, for example, so many different religions – each of them claiming to have the truth, each saying that their truths are clearly superior to the truths of others – how can someone possibly take any of them seriously?”

Arthur C. Clarke

A very good question. Maybe a sophisticated theologian would like to answer it?

    Dear Arch…………..

it’s all in the delivery…and props……….but MOST important

is SOLEMNITY !!!! the more ”gravely important ” you make your message

sound, the more people will buy into it as ”important” and ”holy.”

you pull this off well, and pretty soon you’ll be AWASH in an

    ever-flowing sea of $$ MONEY $$ !!!!!

    and, no heavy lifting !!!!!!

glad to have been of help !

    sincerely,

Pope Francis (aka ” francis the talking pope” )

    Dear Arch…..,

It’s even better (read: more lucrative) when you can get it on TV, then ask for the money to support your mission.

    Dear R J

Frankenpope might be a suitable moniker?

    Dear RJ,

You left out the part about keeping everyone completely ignorant of what anyone else believes and especially ignorant about scientific knowledge of the universe. That is how you have people like Ted Haggard squaring off against Michael Shermer over Darwinian Theory… only Haggard doesn’t really know what it is and it quickly becomes obvious – even to him…

Ignorance. A big part of the game. The fundy Morman’s – look at the control that idiot had over the entire population of FLDS members when he banned all books.
