“Everything changes when a religious charity accepts government money to carry out its ministries and do its work. Under no circumstances should government dollars enable hiring discrimination.”

Ay, there’s the rub, to quote the indecisive Dane.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES, should government dollars enable discrimination in ANYTHING when it comes to the religious charity that accepts them. It should not enable discrimination in hiring, in those to whom serviced are delivered, OR IN THE SERVICES DELIVERED. Once they take Caesar’s silver, they must accept Caesar’s values as well, for that is what it means to render unto Caesar that which is his.
