    Good one. Conversely, if there isn’t a god then we have to figure we’ve done an extraordinary job of making a very cruel world.

    Actually, DNB, we don’t have to accept responsibility for the world’s cruelty, as the very nature of evolution involves a level of cruelty that human kind only participates in, as it was initiated far earlier than we hit the scene. Think of the cruelty in the universe when a big rock can hit the planet 65 million years ago and wipe out something like 85% of species. We haven’t even come close to that one yet, although we’re trying, of course.

    No Jeff, we can’t take credit for eye borrowing worms that evolved before or as we did but, human slavery, injustices of of all kinds, including the 6th great extinction and anthropomorphic climate change are in our lap.

    Jeff’s right on this one. H. sapiens have been brutalizing each other since before we were even australopithecines. Only the complexity of the social behaviors has grown, not the brutality of them.

    Heck, savagery and brutality are not limited to primates either (obviously).
