    And wouldn’t that extend to imams, pastors, rabbis, monks, witch doctors, shamen and any other member of the class that claims to have a special knowledge of and relationship with gods or sprits or flying spaghetti monters? They are “special” by virtue of their access to the nonexistent. Anyone who makes the claim to speak for god, or worse, be spoken to BY god is nothing more than a common fraud. When you meet one, hold on to your wallet.

    Yes, I think insanity is a real possibility. Most religious leaders are absolute nutters – see Jesus, Muhammad, Joe Smith, L. Ron Hubbard. Jim Jones, Pat Robertson, etc, ad nauseum.

    How can people be so desperate that they completely abandon rational thought? Yes, yes, I know, it’s insanity……
