True believers claim that this is not true – that miracles occur still on a regular basis. There is no way to discuss this intelligently with true believers.
I can see the benefit of equating religious magic in an attempt to impress ignorant desert barbarians – but why does it still impress us? Humans are, at some true level, ignorant desert barbarians still looking for magic from the sky.
