In some religions killing in the name of god IS the message.
Sura 9, verse 5, of the Koran: “Then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them. And seize them, beleaguer them, And lie in wait for them, In every stratagem (of war)”. A. Yusuf Ali’s translation.
…I was going to say… The God of the Christian bible is a slaughtering SOB, too. Why not, if you’ve of a mind to kill, claim that your doing so in the name of a violent bastard like him…
Gentlemen, or so I presume, nice rejoinders. Implicit and unforgivably wrong is the quoter’s assumption that religious messages are about peace. Except, as far as I know, from Jainism, there is no religion that has not used it’s foundational texts to justify the murder and rape of non-members. How could anyone not see this? Sadly it is the MODERATES that are missing the message which is “Since we are God’s chosen people with special knowledge of His wishes we can do what we like to the infidels.” It is amazing, the mind’s ability to simply ignore what it doesn’t wish to see. And practitioners of homicidal-Islam are the worst and most dangerous of the current crop so nice quote TM.
P.S. – there’s a reason why Islamists claim that the Koran can only be studied properly in Arabic – preaching to the choir doesn’t garner as much attention. They like to claim English versions are somehow missing the subtleties of language and that if you could only read it in it’s original form you’d see… Bullshit.

There are biblical passages of this type too.
