“Somewhat like gays of a generation ago, atheists today are unlikely to suffer overt discrimination so long as their atheism is kept relatively private. But should one publicly express one's atheism, particularly in a political context, then the scorn of the majority will quickly be felt.”

So well stated by David A. Niose. And this should not make us easy to reject such a phenomenon in a political context. Rather, we encourage politicians to express and discuss in an open and profound manner issues such as belief in supernatural powers. Politicians shut down or ban as an easy solution to sophisticated questions. As intelligent people, let us not crawl into a home of belief.
