19th August 2008

“From my experience, Christian fundamentalists are more concerned about our 'activism' than what we call ourselves. They will attack anyone, Atheist or Theist, who challenges their privileged position in society.”

It is about time that we began repelling these attacks with zest, facts, realism.
They will not listen to scientific truths and haughtily dismiss pure logic, so might it be better to resort to offering condolences and pity as I do with Jehovah’s Witnesses at the door?

Faced with JWs I assume an attitude of pity while avoiding sarcasm and loathing:

“You poor things, groveling to a god who isn’t there …
… submitting to a fiction for which there is no evidence
It’s all in the mind …
… for God exists nowhere except in your heads … fictions for the brainless.
You should be embarrassed … when displaying the base depths of uneducated brains …
You cannot talk about the age of the Earth unless you UNDERSTAND the evidence of those who know—instead of speaking to each other about mythical stories of a so-called 6000-year old past …
Go to courses on cosmology at colleges and universities. Hear and understand the real evidence …
Millions of scientists over two centuries have conducted hundreds of millions of experiments that confirm the facts of cosmology and evolution.
The scientific facts of the real world have produced the modern technological, scientific world as proof of their truths … But for these advances—the result of applying the scientifically-proven laws—you would remain in the mindset and backward world of Medieval peoples
Instead, you choose to believe stories fabricated by illiterate desert tribes of a Bronze Age, camel-herding past …
    And so on …”
