I’m glad this comment came up today. Is there a similar comment in the Christian bible? I have a hard-core baptist uncle who took offence when I asked him where it is written that the bible is the final authority on all things god like. If such an outrageous comment is in the bible, I’d love to point it out to him. If only to point out the obvious flaw in the argument.
Agreed. Ridiculous to make such claims.
Although today, and only today, I will find no fault in “On the Origin of the Species.”
Let me clarify, no fault in the book, not the species.
Happy B-day Charles! You’ve done yourself proud!
On a more serious note, when I hear such things as this quote, I like to state that there is nothing more damning to progress than the belief that something is perfect.

It would have taken me 10 more words to make the same point. Admirably concise!

‘wherein is no doubt’ ?means there is no doubt within? Is that right?

Yes. The phrase is from the opening lines of the Koran, if you don’t recognise it.
