15th March 2009

“When I was a young child growing up in an evangelical Christian church, the congregation was told repeatedly that we were worthless people and the worst kind of sinners would go to Hell if we were not 'born again'. I was so terrified by this, that I was afraid to go to sleep on numerous nights in case my family was taken away from me to Heaven and that I would go to an eternal burning Hell. This sort of 'teaching' has adversely affected my self-esteem and confidence for the past 50 years.”

Sadly, this experience in no way diminished this poor soul’s belief in invisible father figures.

Growing up catholic, I too was told how worthless I was. Looking back it was nothing more than pathetic bullying by a closeted homosexual wearing a dress and pretending to drink blood and eat human flesh before an audience of credulous fools. Scary, gross, distasteful and obscene. And people do this to children.
