“Atheism may be defined as the mental attitude which unreservedly accepts the supremacy of reason and aims at establishing a lifestyle and ethical outlook verifiable by experience and the scientific method, independent of all arbitrary assumptions of authority and creeds.”

An Atheist martyr.

I lived in Austin when Madalyn was headquartered about a mile from my house and was “on fire”. During her “glory years” she used to be on TV (National and Local) fairly often. At that time, I called myself a Christian and I wanted to hate Madalyn for her position on school prayer and astronauts praying and such.
But because of her intellectual presentation of her position with both passion and logic – and without hateful diatribe – I found it impossible; rather I thought her to be one of the most articulate in intelligent orators I had ever heard.
It was years later before I awoke to the plain truths of atheism. I soon realized that this great lady had helped to pave the way for my shedding the myths of my fathers and becoming the simple naked atheist that I had been at birth.
Thank you Madalyn, for my intellectual life, and for your great contributions to society.

I guess atheists have mythologies too.
