“The Bible, it seems certain, was the work of sand-strewn men and women who thought the earth was flat and for whom a wheelbarrow would have been a breathtaking example of emerging technology.”

This reminds me… I wish someone would provide or point me to a historical/anthropological source on the state of critical thinking during “biblical times”.

I recommend an excellent book that expalins the historicity of the Bible and it’s contents. The author Werner Keller, was almost convinced that he should become a Christian after doing research for his book, “The Bible As History”. According to Keller, the Bible confirms the existance of many of the peoples and artifacts mentioned therein as being historically accurate.
It’s fascinating reading for those who doubt the validity of the Biblical text.
Many who have read Kellers book have come away with a greater understanding and respect for the most popular and “famous” book ever written. The book we call “The Bible”.
