“Faith is the great cop-out, the great excuse to evade the need to think and evaluate evidence. Faith is belief in spite of, even perhaps because of, the lack of evidence.”

Yes, part of the comfort for the godbots is that lack of evidence allows these dreamers to dream still more widely.
At the same time it allows concepts of planet-orbiting teapots and flying spaghetti monsters to be set on the same stratum of philosophy.

A rare instance of back-to-back quotes – A Dick Dawkins Double, if you will. I suppose we all have faith of one sort or another but religious people seem to be taking it at dead-Elvis dosages. I have faith that the Cubs will one day win a World Series. Irrational, sure, but harmless. Suicide bombers have faith that their atrocities win them the presidential suite in heaven. Which of us would you rather sit on a bus with?

Terence, I realize that people may have a problem with an Abrahamic god, and I believe they may be well founded, but when you speak blasphemies against the Flying Spaghetti Monster well me thinks ye might have to walk the plank for that. May his noodlie appendages slap you back into reality. After all don’t you want to go to heaven and drink from the beer mountain and visit the stripper factory?

Ah yes, Don, I see you are as much a Pastafarian as I am.
