As much wishful thinking as many atheists/agnostics say religion is. “Religion” is less bloody now than its ever been. Of course, this is no comfort to current and yet-to-be victims of religiously motivated violence. Having said that, I must say that I, as a theist, absolutely and whole-heartedly advocate a secular “public square.”

Oxy, where is your evidence that religion is “less bloody now than its ever been”? Are you defining this by body count? News accounts?
