In an emergency!”

  1. Brian Delrosario Says:

In a medical emergency, to where would you rush yourself: (a) a hospital or (b) a church? Put faith to the test and it fails when it really matters.

  2. Chris Says:

A couple of the people that chose (b) were just sentenced to prison in Texas for murdering their daughter. They prayed when a simple aspirin would have saved her.

Ah, but they also likely believe that in so doing, they have sent their daughter to a better place. They are probably happy that their “accidental” murder/negligent homicide of the child has put her in heaven with their god.

I am always bewildered by this attitude. If one truly believes that heaven is preferable to earth, then why don’t all people of faith simply allow their lives to expire without the marvels of modern medicine when the opportunity presents itself? I guess they don’t have quite enough faith after all. Lets give the benefit of the doubt and ask; If you are dying of a curable disease or injury and you refuse treatment, is it suicide in the eyes of a god?

  4. Chris Says:

You make a good point ‘smokes. Why don’t they ALL stop looking to medicine? You get 87 years or so here in your physical form, the last 10 of which plagued by pain or disease or financial stress but you get maybe 15 BILLION YEARS of incessant harp playing and thanking your celestial sky dad for your pitiful time here on earth. Wait, that actually sounds appallingly tedious.

I think I now know why they tend to fight tooth and claw to stay here! Billions of years of obsequious debasement in “heaven” would be just as bad as any hell!

  5. Geoff Says:

15 billion years??? That is a short time compared with the Eternity that Christians advertise. Try multiplying 15 billion years by the number of particles in the Universe, and you’ll STILL have a short time compared with their Eternity of tedious praise and thanks. Meanwhile, of course, their relatives who spotted all the contradictions and horror in the Bible, who didn’t believe, will be experiencing the tortures of Hell. Forever.

Ah.. Christianity! Surely the most brutal idea ever to have been invented.
