“Science is not infallible, and no one ever claims that it is, but it has something that religion lacks: a process of testing claims against real-world observations. To claim that science is as open to abuse as religion is ignorant nonsense.”

It is the clear expression of thoughts like this that keep us coming back to read Pharyngula… …thanks, PZ.

  2. The Heretic Says:

If science is politicized, i.e., global warming, climate change, or whatever they are calling it these day, it is open to abuse. When politics does not allow dissent in science and instead prefers a “consensus”, which doesn’t exist in science, then the science ceases to be science. It, instead, is fabricated hysteria backed by the media, government, and a small minority of scientists. It is completely dogmatic and twisted and does have the narrow-mindedness and fanaticism of religion. Get politics and agenda out of the process, maybe then, again, it will become science.

  3. Bornagain A. Theist Says:

Religion is so dependent on “faith” that it actually doesn’t allow reality or facts to be apart of itself during these “new testament days”…. “it is by faith ONLY that ye are saved.” When facts are introduced, they are dismissed offhandedly as works of the devil.

PZ has it so right; Ignorant nonsense.
