“What do you get if you cross an Atheist with a Jehovah's Witness? Someone who knocks on doors for no reason.”

    heh heh heh…

Why did GOD never get his PhD?

    1. He had only one major publication.
    2. It was written in Aramaic, not in English.
    3. It has no references.
    4. It wasn’t even published in a refereed journal.
    5. There are serious doubts he wrote it himself.
    6. It may be true that he created the world, but what has he done since
    then?
    7. His cooperative efforts have been quite limited.
    8. The Scientific community has had a hard time replicating his results.
    9. He unlawfully performed not only Animal, but *Human* testing.
    10. When one experiment went awry, he tried to cover it by drowning his
    subjects.
    11. When subjects didn’t behave as predicted, he deleted them from
    the sample.
    12. He rarely came to class, just told his students to read the book.
    13. Some say he had his son to teach the class.
    14. He expelled his first two students for learning.
    15. Although there were only 10 requirements, most of his students
    failed his tests.
    16. His office hours were infrequent and usually held on a mountain top.

  2. Tony Provenzano Says:

    Therein lies a tantalizing problem.

One thing I hear repeatedly from nonbeliever’s is that we need not proselytize. It matters not that this term refers mostly to ‘religious’ opinions or sway.
What I don’t like is the fact that many nonbelievers’ despise proselytizing so much that they brag about us having no need or want to do so.
I think this is wrong and detrimental to our means.

Consider: -our small (even if growing) numbers
-no tax breaks help keep us in check
-the stigma we carry just having the term atheist or agnostic and its real meaning withheld from the majority
-religious proselytizing is the same as advertising

I’m sure there are more points I didn’t bring up.
My point is our ability to speak out is pretty much all we have. If we choose not to speak out with believers we will remain where we are, at a major disadvantage.

If all we have is Science as our strength in evidence, then we are evening the odds if we know how and have the will to use it. Science works best by proving things that are wrong.
Every quote from the Bible Chris brought up the other day (along with hundreds more) is just more evidence that religion needs to be abolished. Those quotes are the tools and evidence we can use (look at how well C. Hitchens uses them).

This site should just be a stepping stone for honing your skills to be better proselytizers!

Do not believe the saying that it is impolite or disrespectful to talk about religion->That is an advantageous ruse that only helps the religious!

How many recruits do you have?

  3. Oxymoronic Christhinker Says:

Careful with the proselytizing, Tony. You may end up with a “religion” on your hands and persecuting those “members” who don’t fit the “real meaning” of atheist or agnostic. But good luck!

  4. Tony Provenzano Says:

    Oxy,
I don’t fully agree with anyone on the planet as far as I can tell so far. It is not my goal to do so either, and what use would it be to any two people to bother with discourse if they were completely in agreement? So it matters not to me that I may step on a few toes and each of us learn something from the other? Please, I encourage others to step on mine.
Confrontation, polemics, and controversy is what I live for. It is the best way to get the deepest, fastest.

As far as a religion goes, bah, never!

  5. PEB Says:

Tony, I started writing a reply disagreeing with you. I don’t really like to tell people how to live their lives but then I started thinking it would actually be quite nice to see a few religions gone.

In fact the list goes (in order of abolition):

    1) The catholic church
    2) Islam
    3) American christian groups

All the others can stay as long as I don’t have to hear about it.

  6. steve Says:

    not withstanding all other comments:

    That was a cute line.

  7. tech Says:

RELIGiON,man reaching out to GOD.CHRISTIAN, to be a follower or CHRIST.CHRISTIANITY,is GOD reaching down to man.I’m glad to say that religion does nothing for me.

  8. Chris Says:

Who is this Christ person I keep hearing Tech go on about? Is it the same guy that said “For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.” So, if you’re poor now, heaven is gonna be a total shit sandwich. Nice guy that J-Creezy.
