Oh what terrifying atrocities have been committed in the service of juvenile myths like Christianity, Islam and Judaism – all branches from the same rotten root. But I’m sure Tech will pop in and give us all an example of an original moral teaching from Jesus that will just blow our rationalist minds.
Seriously, if this Christ stuff is so compelling, how come no one can give me an example of one thing Jesus said that could only have come from a god?
December 8th, 2009 at 12:08
Mr.Chris, when you do find the proof you need. I hope its on this side of eterinity.
December 8th, 2009 at 12:56
Proof? Heck, I’d settle for a little evidence.
December 8th, 2009 at 13:38
But why are you asking science to prove that there is a God. When you can ask, ( like so many others have over the years ) God Himself.Simply by reciteing the sinners prayer. If you,re sincere God will make Himself known to you. OF that i,m quiet certain.God Bless.

Sounds to me that even with the “has been” power of the church over life and death; life is so wasted with this man created god crap.
December 8th, 2009 at 14:20
tech said:
And what does “sincere” mean in this context?
Having had this discussion many times over the years it always turns out that “sincere” doesn’t mean having an open and balanced view on whether there is, or isn’t, a god.

“believed in the execution of heretics.” Obviously something I find personally offensive. In other words, when they can’t convince a non-believer, they kill them. No wonder their persuasive powers of debate are so dreadful. They just self-rightiously chime meaningless strings of words. And you have half a brain that allows for cognitive thought, you get burned to death, drowned, tortured, the stocks, whatever is easiest. All in the name of a god that loves you.

Hey man what is it you hope to gain from all your searching, the truth right. OK lets say God does not exist.I certainly have miss out on nothing. But on the other hand if he does exist and i,m sure he does, you my friend have the most to loose. God Bless You.

Pascals wager? really?
December 8th, 2009 at 16:39
Tech – are you saying you believe in god so that you a free ticket into heaven?
Do you also believe god will send atheists to hell for not believing?
December 8th, 2009 at 16:47
Yes Thanks to my redeemer JESUS CHRIST I have a free ticket into heaven. As for the Atheist that will be between him and GOD. I do not judge.
December 8th, 2009 at 17:35
I think an omnipotent god might see through your plan. Personally I’d rather a free ticket to see the Foo Fighters.
December 8th, 2009 at 18:35
Thats a real smart answer PEB. I guess you got me over a barrel on that one. lol .
December 8th, 2009 at 18:46
I was once a sinner but I found pardon to receive from my LORD.Grace was freely given and i found that he always keeps his word. There is new name written down in Glory and mine oh yes its mine. And the white robed angels sing a story,a sinner has come home.

PRAISE THE LORD. PRAISE THE LORD. PRAISE HIM.
December 8th, 2009 at 19:13
Hi Tech. Earlier you asked me, “But why are you asking science to prove that there is a God?” Actually I’m not. In fact, science absolutely never proves anything. They aren’t in that business. Science simply makes observations and draws conclusions based primarily on repeatable experiments using sound scientific methods. Its how we learn. How can we use scientific methods to investigate your god?
December 8th, 2009 at 19:15
Tech……..???
Do you truly believe all that bull shit you spout?
December 8th, 2009 at 19:23
HOLY SMOKES , Why do you want proof that my god exists when you don’t believe in him.
December 8th, 2009 at 19:25
As I said, I am not out to prove anything. Please reread my last post.
December 8th, 2009 at 19:26
I am merely seeking evidence. Do you have any that will pass basic scientific scrutiny?
December 8th, 2009 at 19:59
Holy Smokes know I don,t , I don,t need to. I found salvation, in the LORD JESUS CHRIST. There are some things that not even science can explain.Holy Smokes you seem to be searching, I do hope you find the answer your looking for.I will be praying that you do find your answer.Take care and may GOD BLESS YOU.

Thanks Tech for your honesty regarding evidence. You may not need any, but surely you must understand why there are those of us who do. I figure that if a god is all powerful and all knowing, then he certainly would not require something as fallible as “faith” to keep his servants believing. There would no reason to. He would simply show himself and his abilities. Unfortunately your god suffers from the same fate as the tens of thousands of others created by man, he is completely invisible in every respect. Faith is simply not good enough. Believing in something without a solid reason, is simply illogical no matter how you slice it. There should be nothing wrong with questioning and attempting to verify a god’s legitimacy.
December 8th, 2009 at 20:33
Tech’s repeated assertions of his faith do absolutely nothing to further the discussion. He can’t name a moral teaching of Jesus that could only have been divinely inspired because there aren’t any. Every damn thing in his precious book came from earlier human sources. The only evidence he or any of his brethren can ever put forward is the bible, which is to say, no evidence at all.
Tech – the reason we demand proof is that the burden of proof rests with the person making the claim. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. There is no greater claim than that of an invisible law giver in the sky that last talked to a human a couple thousand years ago and left as the only evidence for his existence the written word of a bunch of bronze and iron age primitives. Then you arrogantly assert that we’re the ones that are somehow flawed.
I guarantee you, if there appears tomorrow irrefutable proof, we’ll all be believers. And isn’t that the way a god would want it? Is it not an insult to our god-given intellect not to exercise our critical faculties in the way an omniscient god would surely anticipate?
In what other sphere of your life would anyone buy such piffle? None, because when it comes to day-to-day, putting on ones pants and going to work affairs, you’d not survive if you believed something simply because someone said they’d gotten it in a revelation from god.
God told me that Tech is to give me his house and he has to do it because the instruction came from god and i wrote it down. He cannot prove that god didn’t say this to me and his immortal soul is imperiled by non-compliance. When can I pick up the keys?
P.S. Jesus says hi.
December 8th, 2009 at 21:00
Well said Chris.I,m not trying to change your mind . Believe what you want.I’ve been Blessed time and time again.I don,t to prove anything to anyone, especially some one who don’t in a God to begin with.I’m happy to say the he is also a Just God he will the last say. AMEN .Take care and may God have mercy on us all.
December 8th, 2009 at 21:19
Chris sorry about that last few comments it appears i left a few words out.
December 8th, 2009 at 23:43
Tech. Trying to convince me or anyone else about the validity of a god without evidence is very unlikely and probably a waste of your time and ours. However I am quite fascinated with your your mindset. I am amazed by people who manage to convince themselves of the god concept without factual, verifiable evidence.
I am truly curious to learn how you became convinced by seemingly nothing more than peer pressure. Or was it some other reason? Did someone introduce you to the bible without explaining its’ true history to you? Did someone tell you that it was written by the hand of god, thereby making any questioning of it blasphemy? Were you indoctrinated at a young age? Please don’t misunderstand. I am not trying to insult you. I would just like to know exactly what got you to believe in a god?
