“The Catholic Church has been working quietly behind the scenes to influence the EU for years. But the Vatican has made very few public pushes for power in Europe. Why? Part of the answer is that the Catholic Church is accustomed to operating in the shadows. But also, the Vatican may have been biding its time while it manoeuvred all of its pieces into position. Today, there are no powerful liberal voices left in the Roman Catholic Church in Europe. Benedict can now go on the offensive, without having to worry about dissension within his own ranks.”

  1. Greg Says:

Interesting quote. I’m not intimate with the politics of the current Catholic church but am aware of the enormous power it holds within the world – both past and present.

This is a corporation (yes, a corporation – and a very wealthy one) that has a very public agenda and, as the past has shown, a hidden one as well (just think back to WWII and it’s inaction against the Nazi persecution of Jews).

Make no mistake: the Catholic church is a politically motivated entity and will use its power to influence policy in its favour.

If you don’t believe this is possible on a European scale, just look at the power that evangelical groups have in the political process in the US for comparison.

  2. Oxymoronic Christhinker Says:

Sounds a bit paranoid, but I agree with Greg. The Catholic Church continues to hold enormous power in Europe and across the globe.

Been-a-dick is Palpatine to JPII’s Valorem.

  4. solomon Says:

    To all Atheists

Why are you all so damn hatred to the progress of the Catholic Church or Vatican.
Go build your own church & preach there quietly ALONE….kah….kah…kah…

  5. solomon Says:

“The Atheists lives with their unnecesarry dissatisfaction”

    sol

  6. Greg Says:

Did anyone hear that? It sounded like a kah kah kah aunt.

  7. Greg Says:

Hey everyone, you’re gonna love this: Sol likes to quote Fred Waldron Phelps, Sr.

LOL! If you don’t know who this pathetic loser is look him up. He’s the founder of the Westboro Baptist Church – you know, the church that likes to picket the funerals of dead soldiers.

    I guess idiots attract.

  8. Oxymoronic Christhinker Says:

Phelps would probably also condemn Solomon and his Islamic faith straight to hell as well. Idiots attract indeed.

  9. solomon Says:

    Dear Greg,

    Does the kah… kah…. kah…. aunt laugh
sounds irritating to you?Yeah…it was meant to.Serves you right!

  10. Greg Says:

Whooosh. Right over your head, Solomon. As usual.

    LOL!

  11. solomon Says:

    Dear Greg,

Now you can laugh Fred Waldron Phelps, Sr.Wait & see whose gonna laugh at judgement day.

  12. Greg Says:

Yes, laughing all the way to “judgement day”. Ooooooo. Like I’m “really” afraid of your silly god, Sol. Don’t tell me – I’m going to hell, right? Yeah me! Yeah hell! Really looking forward to seeing everyone else there!

Rant and rave like the lunatic you are,Sol. I just find it hilarious that you admire Phelps. He is to christianity what Osama is to islam – you realize this, don’t you? Yep, thought so. Pretty indicative of just how out of touch you are with reality.

  13. CaptainZero1969 Says:

Hell = wet dream for creepy, obsessive and repressed religious douche bags.

  14. solomon Says:

“Pretty indicative of just how out of touch you are with reality.”

    Dear Greg,

You don’t realize that you are the one who is out of touch. Can’t you see what you are made of? A combination of unlimited matters & processes very delicately arranged. And you could simply deny god. What a fuckin’ reality you are refering.

  15. solomon Says:

    Dear Greg,

If you don’t like my former laugh…(kah…kah…kah..)
what about my new laugh (Wa… kakaka)?

  16. solomon Says:

    Qur’an 61:7

“Who does greater wrong than one who invents falsehood against Allah, even as he is being summoned to Submission? And Allah guides not the disbelievers. Their intention is to extinguish Allah’s Light (by blowing) with their mouths: But Allah will complete His Light, even though the Unbelievers detest (it). It is He Who has sent His Messenger with Guidance and the Religion of Truth (Islam), that he may make it conquer all religion, even though the disbelievers hate (it).”

  17. tech Says:

Solomon , Solomon man you need to get you’re head straight. You have made very little sense in the past posts.I have to say you’re what little respect you had from me you,re losing it.The Atheists are making more sense than you. By the way are you and Ben Laden related?

  18. Atheist MC Says:

Part of the answer is that the Catholic Church is accustomed to operating in the shadows. But also, the Vatican may have been biding its time while it manoeuvred all of its pieces into position.

While I’m no fan of the Catholic church it is very easy to get taken in by the conspiracy theories surrounding it (I blame Dan Brown). European democracy is too transparent to allow a coup by such a high profile theocracy as the vatican, and it is doubtful whether many western european catholics would support a harder line than they’ve been used to of late.
The situation in South America may be different however where Catholic fervour runs high.

  19. tech Says:

It must be too early in the morning.Solomon what I was trying to say was this, what little respect Ihad for you , you,re losing it. Start talking sensible.

  20. John Says:

Our old buddy solomon can not make sence… he read the Qur’an.

  21. CaptainZero1969 Says:

I don’t know, Sol. To me, “submission” sounds a lot like “slavery”. In any event, such paranoid and narcissistic rantings as your quoted sura don’t shine a particularly flattering light on Islam(icide). You’d win more minds if you stuck to the less threatening bits, perhaps. If there are less threatening bits.

I do hope you’ll pop in and say goodbye before you strap on the suicide bomber vest. Say hello to the 72 virgins for me. Nothing personal but I hope an army sniper gets you before you gain entry into the elementary school.

  22. The Heretic Says:

Atheist MC, I think you are wrong on Dan Brown. He has highlighted that there is a lot more to the Catholic Church than what you hear in Sunday school. Most believers don’t even know the history of their own religion. That institution is extremely secretive and very careful about what they let out to become doctrine. Personally, I find it fascinating. The fact that they decided which scriptures their followers should believe and not believe back in the 400’s. Effectively they invented their religion. Jesus wasn’t even the son of God until they decided it. The murders of Freemasons across the world. To hide – whatever they were hiding. The denouncement of science when it distracted the populous from being the center of a person’s world. No one really knows what conspiracy theories are based in fact (Mary Magdelene bearing Jesus’ child) or not. An institution that powerful is scary.

  23. Atheist MC Says:

…and then there’s that lump of anti-matter hidden under the floor boards. Seriously though, I agree, the Catholic church is scary and the history we do know is bad enough. We don’t need to add a whole lot of speculation and conspiracy theories to know they need watching.

  24. tech Says:

Paranoid or what.! I think we need to worry more about the middle east and all the crazies over there.

  25. Atheist MC Says:

Well tech, you’re right in the sense that I don’t see any nuns with semtex under their habits exploding at an airport near you anytime soon. However those of us who like our governments secular and rational have to keep an eye out for the Benedicts of this world.

  26. CaptainZero1969 Says:

As one who was raised Catholic and who knows (and likes) many of them, I believe the rightward tilt brought on by the elevation of former Hitler Youth member Joseph Ratzinger is a temporary resurgence by a creepy old guard that is rapidly dying off. The opinion of Catholic friends I’ve spoken with is that the church is out-of-step with an inexorable pull of rationalism and humanistic tolerance. The church will fight it but in the end they will take another grudging step toward more modern ethics. Their membership demands it. That has been the pattern of it.

  27. John Says:

I don’t hate you there solomon, I think that you are mental and misguided. You scare the living shit out of me as I know in a face to face discussion with you; I would be dead via AK – 47 wounds or a bomb blast as your preachers and religion dictate. And this, only because I am free to think, unlike citizens of the middle east, I choose not to believe in islam. How psycho is that?

  28. Greg Says:

Solomon, I prefer a reality that isn’t based on a fable written in a book.

Even tech – one of your early stalwart supporters – has come to recognize that you make absolutely no sense in your posts. You are filled with nothing but bile, anger and ignorance.

Instead of engaging, you attack. Instead of conversing, you rant. Instead of thinking, you pout.

You add nothing to the conversation. In fact, you detract from it. You’re just like a little child who constantly trolls for attention.

Perhaps it’s time you took a time-out and sat alone in your room with your tortured thoughts for a while?

  29. solomon Says:

    Dear tech,

I don’t deliberately comment on the grounds of losing my sense. I’am always sensible. Theres always a catch later even if it sounds silly at the first place. That is my strategy or technique. By the way it releases some tensions on heated arguments. Some of it too have aroused the viewers attention.

  30. solomon Says:

    Dear Greg,

Does the Qoran sounds like some ordinary fable written in a book?
You as well as everybody else will feel it “the uncomparable words of god that
strikes or strip naked what contains in every hearts”.
Tech is only confused with my strategy. He’ll soon get over it.Thats the catch, lots like the Atheists at certain instances need to be attacked, ranted or pouted just to equalise the similar response received from them .Theres no resting or time out for me until most humans find the right path & submit to god.

  31. solomon Says:

    Dear John,

Youre pretty wrong on judging me. I don’t need those AK-47 or Bombs to sponsor truth. That is only your wild imagination. Those arsenals are only needed in real wars. I just need a true humble guided heart to put some sense to the disbelievers.

  32. Greg Says:

Hey everyone, Solomon has a “strategy or technique” he’s employing with his argument.

I just can’t wait for him to spring it on us!

  33. Greg Says:

“Does the Qoran sounds like some ordinary fable written in a book?”

No, it sounds like a very poor quality fable written in a book.

An “ordinary” fable I could stomach, but this? A retarded child could write something more elegant.

  34. solomon Says:

    Dear Greg,

Youre just blurting out wild accusations without any basis for real argument.

  35. Greg Says:

You don’t know the definition of argument Sol – we’ve all come to recognize that that’s not a part of your “strategy or technique”.

  36. solomon Says:

    Dear Greg,

Wait till it slapped you right in your forehead than you’ll recognise my “strategy or technique”
