I agree with all of you on this one – this quote horribly overstates the atheist position re: belief.

I think it’s dangerous to equate atheism with a “system of belief” for a number of reasons. Primarily because it’s a false statement to begin with, but also because it implies adherence to dogma and, perhaps to some extent, a political agenda and/or quest for power.

I can’t speak for the rest of you, but all I want is freedom from religious dogma and religiously-driven political agendas and power in the public sphere.

I’m all for letting religious people masturbate each spiritually in private as much as they want – non of my business. Just don’t bring it out in the open. God-goo is difficult to get out of the furniture…
