“I'm part of the fastest growing religion in the country: Raised Catholic. You know the type. Someone asks us what our religion is, and we act like you've stumped us on a game show. "Well," we explain, 'I was raised Catholic, but …'”

    Now THAT’S funny.

  2. solomon Says:

Every existing things must be predetermined. Its shape, structure, compositions size, colour & functions.Who could have the ability to determined that other than the most powerfull “GOD”.

As for the quote; Patrick is unsure of the religion he use to preach before as well as what he believes now..

  3. solomon Says:

Faith is something that is poured from God to ones heart. And God chooses to whom he’s granting faith.

  4. CaptainZero1969 Says:

The existence and (weird) dogma of the catholic church has made lots of us into atheists over the years. Bravo, Been-a-dick. Transubstantiation, anyone? It’s much easier to believe BEFORE someone tries to explain it to you, ttrust me on that one.

Probably easier to believe than that ‘angels’ talked to Mohammad and he rode a winged horse into the great beyond. Who writes this shit, anyway? It’s as if they are sitting on silos of peyote in the dessert of the middle east. That would explain a lot.

  5. solomon Says:

A winged horse sounds like a fairy tale to you right Captn? Whats so weird about it.? Use some imagination. Just fix it a pair of wings and watch it airborne. You’re are’nt observant are’nt you? Do you look upon an ant right below your feet and above your head. Some happen to have wings and most don’t. That is a very easy thing for God to make it happen.
Theres lots of evidence around for someone to grasp faith. Its not a question of not possible to have faith. Its just that they don’t want to have faith.

  6. dave Says:

God is Santa Claus for adults.

  7. H t k a Says:

everybody knows there no santa clause.

  8. The Heretic Says:

If there is no Santa Clause, then where does coal come from?!!!

  9. John Says:

It’s the shit of the gods.

  10. John Says:

Is it not funny how there always seem to be excuses made for religion? Remember the old saying that “if you can’t dazzle them with brilliance the baffle them with bull”. The quote is just another way of saying; an excuse for having faith and believing in things you know not to be real.

  11. Bornagain A. Theist Says:

For everyone on this group who treasures truth and honesty. Watch and listen as one of the great minds of our time gives his final interview.

  12. H t k a Says:

does anybody have proof that god doesn’t exist?

  13. solomon Says:

Its very clear now that the Atheists are the enemy of reasons. As John puts it, “if you can’t dazzle them with brilliance the(then) baffle them with bull”. They just can’t fool around with reasons. Thats how God works, with reasoning.

  14. John Says:

Does anybody have proof the man is the center of the universe?

  15. Atheist MC Says:

Yep, ‘cos I’m The Man!… oh yeah!

  16. The Heretic Says:

HTKA – You cannot prove a negative. Anyone knows that. Why would you ask such a stupid question?

  17. H t k a Says:

Why would you give such a stupid answer?

  18. Michael Says:

I find this quotation particularly interesting. I have never met, to my knowledge, a practicing Catholic. I’ve only met “former Catholics” and “recovering Catholics” and “I guess I’m Catholic, but I haven’t been to mass in 20 years” kinds of Catholics. I know they’re out there, of course, and in the millions, but it’s some kind of weird luck that I haven’t ever known one, and I’m nearly 40 years old.

  19. Bornagain A. Theist Says:

H t k a: This is my first encounter with you, so I will presume at this moment that you are NOT going to troll these boards. If you answer me with the same level of apparent rudeness as you have TH, then we will all know that you ARE trolling and will simply ignore your future comments.

If, on the other hand, you just got started off on the wrong foot and wish to join in honest conversation and debate about atheism, then here are some thoughts:

Many Xtian apologists attempt to justify their position by asking the wrong question. Please listen to Carl Sagan in the link that I provided in an earlier post. He explains clearly how thoughts and advances in civilization take place. Here it is in my words: Every advancement in the history of mankind has been based on the principal of dissatisfaction OR, put differently to apply to scientific advancement; you can’t begin to know anything ’till you doubt everything.

These are clearly accepted principals of human understanding. And the upthrust of the understanding means that when you look at anything that is “faith based” such as god or allah or jesus or the budah and you want to discover the truth, you begin by presuming that those things DO NOT exist and then you build a case for their existence by locating and investigating evidence.

Your question goes at it backwards. Your question is like my asking “does anybody have proof that Zeus does not exist?” In place of Zeus, you could easily put the names of any of the hundreds of other gods that you are an atheist about. You could also replace Zeus with “Santa Clause” or “The Flying Spaghetti Monster”.

I hope that you are someone who wants to know the truth, no matter how inconvenient it may seem. Contrary to popular opinion, atheism does not attempt to teach that there are no gods. Properly believed, it attempts to teach that there is no evidence for the existence of any gods and that there is a considerable amount of evidence that belief in gods continues to cause a great deal of harm.

  20. The Heretic Says:

BAT, I am rebuked by your diplomacy. I fear that I am easily vexxed by a lack of logical thought. Rule #1 and #2 must by followed (even when it is painful!)

  21. Alavi Hossain Says:

    @ htka
this is a little off the topic of the quote but, the burden of proof lies with the theists. you guys are the ones making these extraordinary claims, so it’s up to you guys to prove them. i think BAT explained that in a very precise manner earlier too.

where are these religious catholics hiding? the only ones who seem open about it are the soul-suckers in the vatican and the militias in ireland. in a way i think it’s good most arent fanatics like the rest of the herd, trying to urinate their ideologies all over america and elsewhere. but these people exacerbate the extremists’ agenda by claiming to be believers by adding numbers to christianity.

  22. Alavi Hossain Says:

    oh and DFTT

  23. solomon Says:

    Bravo…H t k a….Bravo…keep it up….I’ll support you.

    Alavi Hossain,
Who says the burden of proof lies with the theists. Theres no burden at all. The theists won’t have to prove anything. Its all proven in the book, with God’s own words. We did’nt make any claims. Its only God who make the claims and we are only delivering it to everybody.

  24. solomon Says:

Oh I always forget this one…..

    (do feed the theists)

  25. solomon Says:

“These are clearly accepted principals of human understanding. To have faith does not require your lousy principals. Who cares regarding your principals.God chooses to whom he’s granting faith.

  26. solomon Says:

    Forget again…..

    (do feed the theists)

  27. John Says:

Your book was written by a child rapist and is trash.

  28. H t k a Says:

John, to whom were you relaying you post?

  29. H t k a Says:

First let me say this, every good and beautiful thing in this world comes from God.I try to find good in everything. In the past Christianity has been tarnished by people who had other motives for what they were doing.Their intentions were far from what God wanted them to do.These people who I refer to acted on their own.My question is this: Is God to blame for their actions? Should I paint all Christians the same. I don’t because I believe in what I’m doing as I practice my Christian life.My motives are right.I obey the ten commandents. I practice the beatitudes. Matthew 5:3 -10. Go ahead make fun or try to discredit this in some way. This world needs more good. You say you need to advance, lets advance in the well being of others.Show love toward your fellow man not hate there is enought of that already in the world.
