“I'm frankly sick and tired of the political preachers across this country telling me as a citizen that if I want to be a moral person, I must believe in A, B, C, and D. Just who do they think they are? And from where do they presume to claim the right to dictate their moral beliefs to me?”

They are the “self annointed” chosen. They presume to “know” what god wants of us all and see themselves as imperfect sinners deserving of mercy and forgiveness when convenient and pious do-gooders all other times. How “humble” are you that you claim to know what an all-powerful supreme being desires… through your interpretation of its 2000 year old instructions – already interpreted by someone else and then re-interpreted into your language.

Why does anyone really want it to be true – it isn’t a better ending than nothingness.. it just isn’t if you really think about what the hell you are going to do forever… and ever…

Goldwater actually said that in a speech in the U.S. Senate in Sept. 1981.

Where has this kind of integrity gone in the Republican party? Why has every single Republican that is recognized across the country been so cowed by those religious idiots claiming a monopoly on morality?

Personally I think that’s the #1 reason why the GOP lost the last two presidential elections – the candidates had no integrity to stand up to them.

The stupidity on women’s reproductive issues coming out of the leadership – they lost me completely. I was part of the 1% who voted for Gary Johnson.

  4. The Heretic Says:

Actually the reproductive issue was raised by George Stephanopolis – not the GOP. The media ran with it once it was introduced, without any basis of fact, to use as cover for Obama’s failed economy and promises. Anyone who voted for GJ, voted for Obama, simple as that. The Dems/media played women for stupids and you proved them right.

  5. Dan Says:

Are you suggesting that Romney would’ve been able to steer the economy any better in the coming 4 years?

  6. Kittie Says:

Did they fake the statements coming from Ryan’s mouth? What about Akin? If anyone was played for stupid it was those who opened their mouths and removed all doubt…

As for voting for Obama with my vote, I live in Texas. Romney was a sure thing. I was sending a message that at some point there will be enough people interested in real change to pay attention to. Besides, I am a Libertarian, I voted my party…

“basis of fact”…. ??? what fact are you looking for? They said what they said – it was the “meaning” of what they said that they tried to clarify, but really couldn’t. Maybe you would like a try at explaining it .
