“The most important advance that the West has yet made is to develop a secularist moral tradition that regards the free consensus of citizens rather than divine will as the source of moral imperatives.”

  1. The Atheist Advocate Says:

The atheist has a high standard of morals without divinity because when you are a thinking, logical human, you understand the necessity.

It is the theist who uses scripture, filled with violence and hatred, who claims there can’t be morals without it, that are the worse offenders!

The word ‘delusion’ surfaces again and again when defining theists, as they constantly and consistently accuse atheists of immoral behavior, when it is they who are the perpetrators. It is difficult to make this advance, when the majority and the authority are the delusional ones.

Give a wide berth to any who says that without the bible or god we’d all be raping and murdering and stealing. For those, I’m kind of glad that they believe if that keeps them from committing crimes.

  3. John Sutton Says:

This “secularist moral tradition” is obvious to most atheists but is not widely understood or accepted by the majority of worshiping theists. We need much better PR in this area.
