“Even if abstinence-only grads have less sex, they are at markedly higher risk of something bad happening when they almost inevitably do become sexually active. The traditionalists’ desperate dream of achieving ‘purity’ is backfiring in a classic example of unintended consequences. One result is that STD infection rates are up to hundreds of times higher in America than in some non-religious democracies.”

  1. Atheist MC Says:

I like that “purity” is in quotes. Nothing immoral in sex between consenting adults (however that is defined) and definitely nothing unnatural about it.
It is extremely unlikely that any moral prohibition against sex will succeed, especially if accompanied by no or erroneous information.

Won’t stop humans from having sex. Informed people are more likely to make safe choices.

I love the fact that teens that take the “purity pledge” have much a much higher chance of a adultery, promiscuity, STIs, higher chance for fetishisms, higher chance of oral sex, and a higher chance of the great homosexual fear, anal (yes, straights can do that, too ya know).

No matter how hard the church tries to strip out the human factor in it’s teachings, the human factor always (*snickers*) rears it’s head up.
