“Many people hold on to belief as an unquestioned part of their make-up. They never have to confront the source of their belief, and as long as nothing actively pushes them into addressing it, they keep it as something which rarely does much harm and might actually do some good… Like a lot of believers, I knew that there were parts of my belief that wouldn't stand up to analysis. But that was fine. I didn't need to analyse them. I only lost faith when I was forced to.”

From yesterday:
“BAT; what about the laws of a country? In muslin nations it appears that rape is condoned because the preachers are in charge. In the West; the laws are in charge however the preachers seem to get away with rape because of the law.”
I see your point! My point is that the laws of every country are strongly based on some form of religion, all of which is detrimental to mankind. In America, we live under a theocracy, particularly so after 8 years of the Bush administration. As long as we have “In God We Trust” on our money, “Under God” in our ‘pledge’, and all of the myriad atrocities within our government suggesting that we are a “Christian Nation”, preachers will continue to find ways to rape both women and the minds of our children. The fact that ID is even a point of discussion, much less something being openly taught in the private religious schools is a burden that this country bears now and will into the future. Home schooling is nothing more than a way of propagandizing the kiddies. It is a horror.
Eventually, our laws must be restructured to reflect the non-existence of any god or gods. Only then will we find true justice being administered.

I think this quote is common. It’s called, “Going along with the crowd.” People automatically assume that because everyone else is doing it, it must be right. Humans do an excellent job of playing, “follow the leader.”

The quote is a fair outline of my own voyage of discovery. I can’t say I was particularly faithful but I didn’t question the teachings either. Until I got older and examined what the “good book” actually says. It was a lot like digging though a magician’s coat pockets – all the mystery goes right out the window. What is most surprising to me is how many people can have the tricks and deceits pointed out to them yet they can pretend not to hear.

“I don’t believe in god because I’ve thought about it” – Sean Lock.
April 27th, 2010 at 10:33
Its not you thought about it.Its you brush away the thought.
April 27th, 2010 at 14:54
Some of the people that I question have clearly not thought about their professed religion. One woman stated she was a Catholic. Upon further questioning, she said that she didn’t believe in a personal god, but she found the ritual of the church to be comforting. Sometimes I wonder if that is what it is. Just a social thing, or a comfort thing – kind of like a favorite blanket. Clearly many have not really thought about what they actually believe or why.

Another amazing thing is how people just can’t let people die and be done with it. They pretend that they are in some magical place patiently waiting for your time to come so everyone can be all together again.
If you want to make an ordinary Xian squirm, ask them what happens in heaven when there have been multiple marriages with animosity, bitterness and perhaps violence. (Apologists have invented answers for this ridiculous shit.)

And all those babies that died during birth…
April 27th, 2010 at 17:23
Maybe heaven is just a giant galactic daycare for all babies that succumbed to a high infant mortality rate. I definitely don’t want to go there!
April 27th, 2010 at 17:48
Heretic no need to worry about that. One day soon all of you atheists will have what you keep crying for. That be no churches ,no sign of Christains, everything just the way you want it.But praise the LORD we will be all in a much better place. yes , there will be babies there too.

Although I will soon be moving elsewhere in the country, I currently live near the morman lands in the US Southwest and in 15 years now, I have never seen or heard of a morman dying… They always go back to be with their heavenly father.
For all: DFTT is my continuous goal of perfection now however, please read Margaret’s post on 4/26.

Tech,
Regarding your last post; How do you know these things?
April 27th, 2010 at 19:30
Yep. Let’s do it religiously.
The quote: The corollary of this is if you are an outspoken atheist there’s a lot of “what’s your problem” attitude comes your way. Among the nominally religious who only believe because it has never occurred to them not too, atheism seems unnecessary.

Holy smoke it has been revealed to us in Gods Holy Word. Now holy smoke getting back to you post today at 3:26. Well if i’m going to play follow the leader, it will be with the one only and Jesus Christ who died for my sins and the sins of the world.
April 27th, 2010 at 21:28
Tech… jc died before you where born and your sins where known? ……Cooooool… nice trick.
April 27th, 2010 at 21:56
Tech,
Ahhh, so once again you are merely preaching without facts or evidence. Its a shame you haven’t yet realized the foolishness of that.
April 27th, 2010 at 23:03
this accurately describes my transition to disbelief. the vast majority of current believers probably feel this way too. it’s only one more step my friends. go for it, you won’t regret it.

Ohh great and powerful Admin of this site, hear my prayer. Please grant us lowly heathens a chance to edit our unworthy comments if only to prevent embarrasment from elementary spelling erors.

I would like to tell the real situation in Heaven.
In Heaven there will be no old folks nor babies. Everybody will be of the same age that is around 33 years old.The old folks will become young and babies will become grownups.
And one more thing to clear things up No one will carry the sins of others. Not even Jesus.Everybody is on his own.
April 28th, 2010 at 2:49
The only way for the Atheists to avoid humiliation being unable to refute the truth that have been brought up is by DFTT. What a shame !
