“To hear the Catholic Church talk, you'd think they'd always been champions of human rights, when a quick review of the Church's history, particular in the Papal States where it held near absolute power, you'll find quite a different story.”

In an attempt to show the better nature of Arabic Muslims, there is a new travelling museum detailing 1001 inventions by that culture…Only evidently they didn’t really invent all those things, many were invented in India… and edited and passed on by the Arabs… This is an attempt to make Islam look friendly and smart…. “see – no danger here – it is just like christianity”( only with a morman twist and funky clothes for women)

Let my mouth be filled with Your praise And with Your glory all the day.
    Psalm 71:8 (NKJV)

Now who says “let my mouth be filled…”?

Just saying it is a rather perverse sounding metaphor. Why not something less perverse like “let my words be praise and glory to god” or something like this.
Why is there so very much sexual innuendo in religious speak?

Why does the pope wear a phallic symbol hat?
Why are women supposed to cover their bodies from the view of man?
What were they getting at when they removed the vaginal loop from the ankh and replaced it with a shortened penis in creating the cross?

I could go on and on with these weird sexual overtones, but it gets down to this childlike needy god that is opposed to anything that might distract you from pressing his “like” button over ad over again.

And people want to follow this? Want to accept it as some sort of reasonable way to live life?

    Odd, very odd.

    Sinjin,

As to the Like button on the God page, I couldn’t agree with you more.

As to the American Taliban, er…, Tea Party, I was not dismissing them, just pointing out that their brand of intolerance for dissent, their insistence on biblical literal-ism, and their denial of facts such as climate change is exactly that of their Afghan cousins. And if that’s not what you think they stand for, you haven’t been paying attention: it’s not what they’re shouting about, but it’s exactly what they stand for.
