    Far to simplistic a point of view delivered with all the jingoistic,triumphalist fervour so beloved of the pulpit. Furthermore ithe certainty of its premise does not take into account
    the historical refuge from fear so many take in times of uncertainty or depressions,a phenomena the mind vultures are only too adept at harvesting.
    Logic and reason will never be able rest on its laurels.We should never forget the monsters that reason’s sleep produces.

    Atheism has always been around. It is just that Western cultures in this century are more tolerant of it than has been the case in the past. However, the culture of Islam is completely intolerant of it…and they are spreading. They are spreading through Europe (and Malaysia and Africa….), which is currently the bastion of atheism.

    I see European culture, and its atheism, extinguishing within the next decade. Unfortunately. I also see a resurgence of Theism in the rest of the world to combat Islam, because atheists won’t confront it. Nature abhors a vacuum. I know I sound a cynic, and I hope I am wrong. But, I think we may be slipping back into the closet in a few years….and I really despise moth balls.

    I would love to hear others thoughts on the surging of Islam and what that means for atheists.

    Has anyone see some of the old photos from Iraq, Iran, Somalia, et cetera, where women are sporting hip 1960’s attire, no different in their appearance from their Western counterparts then a present day picture of the women completely covered in cotton bags next to the old pictures?

    The freedom I’m thinking of includes freedom from religion. I think Kevin Smith is being careless with his words.

    I concur.

    I also think that a great portion of our coddled society is averse to fighting. They might be annoying activists when it suits them, but they don’t fight the fight. For example – feminists. They scream and holler over trivialities here; but, where their voice is really needed is in other parts of the world, where women have no rights. They are largely silent.

    Where Islam encroaches on Western society, humanists (atheists) take a multicultural stance when they should be screaming their fool heads off. The only ones willing to take a stand at all is an opposing cult (by and large – Christian). Even the Vatican is silent.

    Who is willing to stand up to their advance? The sheer numbers of their propagation is daunting. While most Western populations are in decline, their’s is in an explosion. They are not firing a shot in Europe, their numbers are just growing exponentially.

    Denmark is currently under cultural siege. No Christmas festivals for them anymore. Their town councils are run by Muslims. They are now whimpering that the country is losing its culture. They are a minority in their own country. It is happening in Britain and France as well as many other countries. People can’t speak out about it, or they will be fined and imprisoned (or killed) for hate speech and intolerance.

    Is that the fate of Western civilization? To be subjugated with barely a whimper? If you live in Europe – the answer is maybe so. Other places? We need to start growing a backbone and speak out forcefully. We have bigger fish to fry than the pedarasts that are Catholic priests.
