You cannot know God in a state of sin. You must repent of your sin and ask forgiveness. The atheist thereforewill in all probality will never know Him or the joy of sins forgiven.
Rephrased quote: “People who purport to be God’s messenger on earth are a danger to human kind.”
Now It’s much more accurate. There’s a short list of possibilities for those that wrap this mantle around themselves:
1. Insane
2. Conscious frauds
In either case, strong suspicion is a useful position to take. In the first, you get Jim Jones, David Koresh etc. In the second, Joesph Smith. These people will get you killed or shear you like a sheep. Often both.
I agree Captain. People who “think” they know the answers can easily become a disaster to everyone. Just take a look at the wide variety of religions. Every single one of them thinks they are right, despite not having a shred of evidence. Techs last comment is a textbook case. Nothing he said has any basis in facts, yet he has no problem babbling on about it. It’s a pity that voting cannot be regulated to people who follow the evidence. The human race would be better off.
Captain zero I hear you and I agree ,those people you just mentioned their acts has done a great injustice to God and all mankind. That being said ,I don’t think that God should be the blame for their actions. When we as humans commit violent crimes its not Gods doing, some may wana place blame on Him.You know its funny anything good that happens ,no one sees God in it.But every thing bad they want to blame God.Why?If you don’t believe in Him.
Holy Smokes The comments I make are what I myself have proven to be true. I’m not trying to convience anyone to believe me.As for what I say here on this site if its babbleing , then maybe, just maybe we should rename it.”THE BABBLER’S QOTD”
You know its funny anything good that happens ,no one sees God in it.But every thing bad they want to blame God.Why?If you don’t believe in Him.
Remember tech we don’t believe in any god. We occasionally use the rhetorical device of if gods existed they would have to be responsible for all the bad shit that happens as well as the good. The atheists on this site understand that good or bad is either the concious actions of fellow humans or totally random acts of nature. It is theists who, believing in whichever deity is prevalent in their culture, tend to ascribe all things good to their god and all things evil to man.
Hey Tech – For clarity, my comments did not blame god. Since I don’t believe any such creature exists, it would hardly make sense to say she’s the cause of insane people of conscious frauds. An insane person is not necessarily responsible for their deceptions. A fraud is. Both are dangerous because of their potential to mislead otherwise well intentioned people who happen to believe their very sincere sounding insistence that they “speak for god.” It has happened many times.
Tech your remarks, along with this one: “the comments I make are what I myself have proven to be true.” is PRECISELY the sort of thing this quote is talking about. The simple truth is, you haven’t PROVEN anything. You may have convinced yourself a god exists, but that is all. If that is good enough for you, then congratulations. The problem starts when you attempt to push your beliefs by telling others will happen. You have done so multiple times and once again, without evidence. I don’t think it’s possible to state just how ridiculous it makes you look. Nothing personal, but when you come to a place that uses facts and logic, rather than silly notions about fairy tales, it really does make you look foolish.
You repeatedly tell us the details regarding your god, yet you have no factual knowledge to begin with. How exactly is it that you know enough to come to this site and preach about what your particular god is, or is not going to do? If you want to make grandiose claims, at least have the courtesy to post your evidence. When we consider the fact that you sermonize about your god’s intentions, it becomes obvious that your personal beliefs, will in fact, enter into the way you vote or assist politicians with advise. Its your own comments that make a text-book case for the accuracy of this quote.
It’s also worth noting that you repeatedly do all of this, but when pressed for evidence you crawl back into your shell and tell us all that it’s good enough you. Let’s cut to the chase Tech. You have no evidence and to your credit, you have at least admitted that in the past. Without evidence, there is absolutely no way you can tell us about your god, or what it’s up to. It is simply not logical. He could be a nice god, a total asshole, or anything in between. You don’t know if he is kind, caring, forgiving etc. or mean, vile, vengeful and so on. You certainly do not know if he is all powerful. In short, you don’t have a clue …just like all the other believers on this planet, which encompasses thousands of gods. Perhaps it is time you show the rest of us a little respect that come to grips with that fact. The point of this site is to discuss the daily quote, not listen your ignorant, non factual babbling.
Do us all a favor, if you want to participate, stick to, discussing the quote. I think you will find that I and everyone in here would enjoy listening to your opinion for these daily ponderings, IF you base it on facts and refrain from side-tracking the conversation on what you “think” your god is up to.
Yea I know Captain but these people you speak of are not in their right minds they are sick. Satan has taken over their lives. They live to do evil only.If they say its for their then their God is a god of evil.
OK carry on holy smoke you will soon find nothing to talk about and just yourselves to talk to. Its fine with me, I have many many Christains friends who share my beliefs. Your right I don’t need to be here.
Insanity has biological causes. I’m not expert but I believe there are several ways in which brains “fail” and while medical science doesn’t have a complete understanding of the processes involved, a lot is known and we’re able to fix many conditions. Our only means of furthering our understanding is the scientific method. We’d make NO progress if we simply threw up our hands and blamed illness on “the devil” or “witches” or “atheists” or any other evil agency you could dream up.
I will expand on my post from yesterday which was that: “I have come to believe that when the religious lie to themselves about all the things that their magic man can do… anything’s possible.” And further say that anything can be twisted into any form of delusions when a magic god is good and man is not.
tech, I often think of a conversation I had with my mother regarding god, one which made me realize that having a rational, logical discussion regarding the nature of god would never be allowed with her. After much talking she had had enough of my questions and said (and I quote): “God said it, I believe it, that settles it!”
Sigh.
Your statements regarding your “walk with Christ” are not dissimilar to her statement. This begs the question: How can you argue with someone whose faith is so complete and so blind to reason?
Your mother is just not intellectual enough to elaborate matters regarding religion. You must understand not all humans posses those talents. You should have asked it from experts. But one thing that matters most is that your mother have not fail to wonder, every thing must have its creator. This is the subject where most of you who thinks you are intelligent enough, but have been blind & fail to grasp.
God is good as well as man(initially).
If god is not good, then he’s not fit to be god.
But man turn themself bad, not god turn them.
This is no delusion, it have proofs.
The proof is in the book & its witness is the prophet.
Stop lying to others & yourself.
You’re doing a hopeless job.
Come back to god.You won’t feel sorrow or grieve.
You’ll be in safe hands.
You’le be in the safe side.(from hell)
Theres nothing to lose.
Dear Greg,
I have no intention at all in insulting your mother.I’am sorry if you misunderstood my remarks.I’am just sending a message not to over estimate ones belief even if its a member of your family.
It is you that have been swayed from the true path. In the end you will know & regret. But there will be no turning back.Hell will surely get you. Turn back now when theres still time.

Yet politicians often “act” like they are so connected to those messengers… unless they get caught… when they “all” crrrryyyy about sin.

Dear Holysmokes,
“You don’t know if he is kind, caring, forgiving etc.”
Of course we know God is so because he have told so.
God is most gracious, most mercifull, most intelligent, most powerful, and many other qualities.

I do not normally respond to Solomon, but will make one exception here….
My mother has forgotten more than you’ll ever know. You could remove half of her intelligence and she’d still be three times as intelligent as you.
You can abuse me with your pithy remarks all you like, but don’t you ever, EVER insult a member of my family.

February 18th, 2010 at 1:41
Death is not the final page. There will be life after death. If god can make us alive for the first time, its of no problem for him to repeat it.

If that makes you sleep better, believe whatever you want, Solomon.
